Upcoming Events

Tuesday, August 19 - August Women's Book Group

The Kingdom, The Power, and the Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism, by Tim Alberta: this book details step by step how a conservative Christian church became a powerful political tool.

WBG will be considering it at their next meeting and discussing what it might have to say to our church and its activities.

Do join us on Tuesday, August 19 at noon in the Amistad Room. Anyone who identifies as a woman is welcome at our table.

"Food 'n' Fun" Groups

Have you ever wondered how to develop friendships among those you see at church? Perhaps you've attended Tapping Into Faith at Mad Anthony's, Wednesday Night Live, a movie group or game nights. The Congregational Life Board is planning an opportunity for those who would like to enjoy "Food 'n' Fun" among eight enthusiasts interested in having a great time getting to know each other. Interested?

Groups of eight will consist of couples and singles of all ages, assigned by a committee. Each group will plan up to eight monthly gatherings from October through May. They may include pitch-ins, picnics, restaurants, or a progressive dinner. Games, a hike, and other activities could be included as well. Each group creates what appeals to it. Join us now for "Food 'n' Fun" and new friendships.

Sign-up's may be made in the Folsom Room, or at the link below until September 21. Group assignments will be distributed Sunday, September 28 in the Folsom Room following worship.

Friday & Saturday, August 22-23: Indiana-Kentucky Conference UCC Annual Gathering at Plymouth

The Indiana-Kentucky Conference Annual Gathering will be taking place here at Plymouth on August 22 and 23. Volunteers will be needed in a variety of areas including parking lot welcoming, guides within the building, kitchen cleanup for the Friday banquet, ice cream social and Saturday luncheon. Help with setting up tables will also be appreciated. Put the dates on your calendar so that we may be great hosts for this exciting event.

Sunday, September 7: Plymouth Resource Faire

On September 7, we will have our annual resource faire after worship in the Folsom Room. There will be tables set up on the different ministries and programs that occur in the life of the church. This faire gives the members and friends the opportunity to see what all is going on, find where they might want to plug in, and ask volunteers from that ministry any questions. There is a sign-up sheet in the Folsom Room that we’re asking the various ministries, committees, etc. to fill out to indicate they will be present and need to reserve a table. We look forward to seeing you there!

General Announcements

Fall Directory Photo Drive

I am collecting photos for the online directory! Last time I came to you hat in hand I asked for folks to upload personally. This time I'm just going to make this as simple as I can for you. All you have to do is drag and drop a photo from your computer to the upload section of this handy form in the link below and hit submit. It's that easy. I'll upload them to your account as they come in.

If you have any questions, see me in my office. Still too confusing? No worries! Set up a time with me and we will take a photo together.

T-Shirt's are Here!

Pride at Plymouth t-shirts have arrived. If you ordered one, please email Tony Ray at tdr@plymouthfw.org to schedule a pick up time, or check with Jake in the office on Sunday!

Volunteers Needed for Nursery and Children's Fellowship Time

We are seeking adult volunteers to help out with Children's Fellowship Time and to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings. If you like working with kids, this job is for you! Volunteers help once a month or less, either in the nursery or with Children's Fellowship Time, during the Sunday morning service. To volunteer with children, you must have been attending Plymouth services for at least six months, but you do not have to be an official member. Volunteers are also required to submit to a background check. If you are interested, please email Rev. Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouth.org

Become a Study Connection Tutor - Make a Difference in a Child's Life

This fall, Plymouth is celebrating the 13th year of a successful Study Connection with children, grades K-5, who attend Fairfield Elementary School. Study Connection typically begins in early October.

Tutors and children have fun getting to know each other. The main job of the tutor is to establish a relationship with the child to encourage and support learning. We are not substitute teachers, instead we are the child’s advocate, cheerleader and an adult friend, supporting the child at Study Connection's snack times, homework sessions, educational games and celebrations. Between 3:30 and 4:30 pm on Wednesday afternoons, the Folsom Room is alive with youthful voices and energy.

If you would like to be a tutor or a substitute, please let Lucy Hess know lrh22@frontier.com or call 484-4430. To apply, click here, and scroll down to the 'Volunteer' section to access the application form. All volunteers must have a background check which is done by the FWCS at no cost.

Everyone is welcome to be a special friend to an elementary-aged child. Providing support and encouragement is the main task for each tutor and sub. Being a tutor or sub is a great way to make a difference in a child’s life.

Safety Attendants

The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link.

Plymouth Raised Bed Garden Spaces - New Plants Ready!

Some new plants are ready for harvesting in the raised bed garden spaces behind the church. You're welcome to grab some! Zucchini, cucumbers, green beans and peppers are all ready for picking.

This garden is intended to help feed our downtown neighbors, as well as Plymouth people - members, visitors and staff. Enjoy the harvest!

Office Volunteers Needed for Weekly Staff Meetings

Do you have some time available on Tuesdays and are looking for something to do? Would you like to aid your favorite Plymouth Receptionist in making sure that everyone is greeted with a kind and smiling face? Do we have the opportunity for you! Plymouth staff are looking for volunteers to cover for the receptionist during the staff meetings every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. It’s a quiet time for the church, the most you may have to do is answer a phone call or two, maybe complete a small project.

To sign up as a volunteer, speak with Jake in the office or click the button below.

Open Prayer in the Sanctuary
