Sunday, February 8 - Valentines Day Gift + Kenya Mission

Need a unique Valentine gift for your sweetheart? Consider a hand-carved soapstone heart from Rongo, Kenya. Suggested donation is $5. The love you share will reach halfway across the world —100% of proceeds will go to benefit students at the Blessed Luigi Tezza School for the Deaf in Karungu, Kenya. See pictures and videos of this amazing mission in the Folsom Room after church on Sunday.

Sunday, February 8 - Thoughts & Facts from the Anti-Racism Action Team

“Race is an evolving social idea that was created to legitimize racial inequality and

protect white advantage. The term 'white' first appeared in colonial law in the late

1600s, and by 1790, people were asked to claim their race on the census. From the

late 1800s through the early twentieth century, as waves of immigrants entered the

United States, the concept of a white race was solidified.”

- Robin Diangelo, White Fragility

Wednesday, February 11 - Wednesday Night Live

Wednesday Night Live programming continues this Wednesday. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal. At 5:15 pm there will be Bible Study with Rev. Timothy, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm. All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to the inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!

The passcode to join Bible Study on Zoom is 773232.

Upcoming Events

Saturday, February 21 - Family Festival Tabling Event

Plymouth will be hosting a table at the WMEE Family Festival at the Memorial Coliseum and we need your help! We need enthusiastic Plymouth members to take shifts at our table to welcome visitors, hand out swag, and tell people about Plymouth Church. Last year, over 2000 people attended the event, so this is a great way to reach young families and invite them to check us out!

The event is from 9am-3pm and shifts are two hours. If you would like to sign up for a shift, click the link below.

Sunday, February 15 - Share the Love: Write for Your Rights!

The Reproductive Rights Action Team invites you to a postcard writing event on Sunday, February 15 starting at 2:30 pm, to protect our access to essential health care in Indiana. There are several bills moving forward right now that threaten Hoosiers' access to healthcare, including essential medications for abortion care. We need to make our voices heard!

We will provide all the materials needed for writing, as well as letter templates for inspiration. The finished postcards will be hand-delivered to the statehouse.

Please bring a box of feminine hygiene products to the event-- these items will be donated to Fairfield Elementary School.

All are welcome and spread the word! Drop in any time between 2-3:30 pm.

Tuesday, February 17 - Women's Book Group: The Other Einstein

The next meeting of the Women's Book Group will be Tuesday, February 17 at 11:30 am. We will be discussing the book The Other Einstein, by Marie Benedict.

The Women's Book Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the Amistad Room. All self-identifying women are welcome to join the discussion on a drop-in basis or longer term.

Tuesday, February 17 - Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Come one, come all to the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake and Sausage supper on Tuesday, February 17 at 5:30 pm. This is an annual tradition as we prepare to enter the season of Lent and observe Ash Wednesday the following day.

Congregational Life will provide pancakes, sausages, and beverages, all with a festive Mardi Gras theme. Please sign up in the Folsom room if you plan to attend so that we can be sure to have enough food for everyone. All are welcome!

Wednesday, February 18 - Annual Ash Wednesday Service

The season of Lent begins on Wednesday, February 18, where we will observe the day with our annual Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 pm. Join us in the sanctuary for a service of music, communion, the imposition of ashes, and a brief homily. This service is an opportunity to reflect together about the meaning of the Lenten season, and to enter into it with intentionality and prayer. We hope to see you there. Livestreaming will be available for those wishing to watch virtually.

February 18 - April 1 - Lenten Book Study

This year's book study is How to be an Antiracist, by Ibram X Kindi. The book is available through Amazon or Barnes and Noble in either print, digital, or audible format. You can also check out the hardcover edition from the church's Louise Folsom Memorial Library, and Rev. Timothy has a few extra copies for anyone who might need help. This study, led by Reverend Timothy, starts February 18 and concludes April 1, meeting every Wednesday at 5:15 pm in the Chapel.

Saturday, February 21 - "Sale" Away with US - YMCA

Plymouth members are partnering with Union Baptist Church Quilt Ministry for the "Active Older Adults Fundraiser" Quilt Showcase and Bake Sale, at the Renaissance Pointe YMCA on Saturday, February 21 from 10 am-3 pm. Stop by to check out the handmade quilts and enjoy a sweet treat!

Wednesday, March 4 - Dementia Support Group

Many, if not most of us, will at some point or another have a friend or loved one who is living with dementia. That reality is true for members of Plymouth Church, too. We will begin offering a weekly group on Wednesday nights after Wednesday Night Live dinner for those caring for or in relationship with someone with dementia. This group will be led by Rev. January Simpson and will meet in the Chapel starting at 6:45 pm on March 4. No sign up is required; however, if you will be bringing your loved one with dementia, we do need to know that. They will gather separately so that caregivers can speak openly with each other. Please email and indicate your interest to jls@plymouthfw.org.

Adult Nursery Volunteers Needed

Plymouth is looking for a few more adult volunteers to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings, starting in the new year. Volunteers are scheduled to assist no more than once a month and are needed during the Sunday morning worship hour. If you would like to help out, please see Rev. Ofner-Seals or email her at smo@plymouthfw.org.

Safety Attendants

The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link.
