| | |
Plymouth will host a fun-filled Mini-Music Camp for preschool and elementary kids from 5:00–6:30pm each evening, July 28 through August 1. Children will sing, play instruments, enjoy games and crafts, and build friendships - all while preparing for a short showcase performance on Friday at 6:30 pm in the Folsom Room. Kids are welcome to attend even if they can’t make it every night!
To sign up or ask questions, please contact Brandon Porter at brandon.porter.music@gmail.com.
| | | | Saturday, August 2 - River Greenway Clean-Up | | |
|
Plymouth’s Green Team has adopted a section of the River Greenway Trail. This means that we are responsible for clean-up and maintenance of this section of the trail three times each year. Our next clean-up day will be Saturday, August 2 from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Please sign up on the board in the Folsom Room.
Parking is available at Towles Intermediate School (420 E. Paulding Rd) or at Tillman Park Trailhead (600 E. Tillman Rd). A Green Team member will be waiting at each parking location. Trash bags, gloves, and pick-up sticks will be provided. Bring a grabber if you have one!
All ages are welcome! The distance is approximately two miles. Please join us if you can and help us live into our Earthwise covenant!
| | | | Sunday, August 3: Pulpit Exchange with Pilgrim Baptist | | |
| | Plymouth will be having a pulpit exchange with Pilgrim Baptist once again on Sunday, August 3. Like before, we invite a delegation of members to attend Pilgrim Baptist on that day, where Rev. Timothy will be guest preaching as Pastor Raymond Dix, Jr. will guest preach here. If you are interested in experiencing their worship service on that Sunday, please email Rev. Timothy at tcm@plymouthfw.org to sign up. We hope to have 10-12 members representing us there on that day. Pilgrim’s service begins at 10:00 am and is located at 1331 Gay Street in Fort Wayne. | | | | Sunday, August 10 - Annual Church Picnic | | |
|
Plymouth's Annual Church Picnic will be Sunday, August 10 at the David Hefner Pavilion (1903 St. Mary's Avenue) from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm. The Congregational Life Board will be providing the main course and beverages. Others are invited to bring a side dish or dessert to share as well as their own picnic tableware, including cups.
If you plan to attend, please sign up on the board in the Folsom Room so that Congregational Life knows how much food to prepare.
| | | | Tuesday, August 19 - August Women's Book Group | | |
| | |
The Kingdom, The Power, and the Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism, by Tim Alberta: this book details step by step how a conservative Christian church became a powerful political tool.
WBG will be considering it at their next meeting and discussing what it might have to say to our church and its activities.
Do join us on Tuesday, August 19th at noon in the Amistad Room. Anyone who identifies as a woman is welcome at our table.

Have you ever wondered how to develop friendships among those you see at church? The Congregational Life Board is planning an opportunity for those who would like to enjoy "Food 'n' Fun" among eight enthusiasts interested in having a great time getting to know each other.
Groups of eight will consist of couples and singles of all ages, assigned by a committee. Each group will plan up to eight monthly gatherings from October through May. They may include pitch-ins, picnics, restaurants, or a progressive dinner. Games, a hike, and other activities could be included as well.
Each group creates what appeals to it. Sign up information will be available in early August until mid-September. Assigned groups will be distributed Sunday, September 28 at a gathering in the Folsom Room following Worship. Join us for "Food 'n' Fun" and new friendships.
| | | | Friday & Saturday, August 22-23: Indiana-Kentucky Conference UCC Annual Gathering at Plymouth | | |
| | The Indiana-Kentucky Conference Annual Gathering will be taking place here at Plymouth on August 22 and 23. Volunteers will be needed in a variety of areas including parking lot welcoming, guides within the building, kitchen cleanup for the Friday banquet, ice cream social and Saturday luncheon. Help with setting up tables will also be appreciated. Watch for details on volunteer signup coming soon! Put the dates on your calendar so that we may be great hosts for this exciting event. | | | |
| | New Plymouth t-shirts have arrived. If you ordered one, please email Tony Ray at tdr@plymouthfw.org to schedule a pick up time, or have it ready for you to pick up on a Sunday. | | | | 2025-26 Richard C. Hess Peace Studies Scholarship Recipients | | |
|
The Peace and Justice Committee is pleased to announce the 2025-26 recipients of the Richard C. Hess Peace Studies Scholarship:
Joshua Adler will be a junior at Manchester University majoring in music performance, philosophy/religion and peace studies. He believes that his studies will lead him to develop a deeper understanding of the “intersection between music, faith and social change”. He has participated in travel experiences to Kenya and New Orleans, LA where he studied with individuals dedicated to peace building in their communities. Currently, he is the president of the Kenapocomoco Peace Coalition at North Manchester and became certified in conflict resolution. Upon graduation, Joshua plans to pursue a Master of Arts in Theopoetics at Bethany Theological Seminary further developing peacemaking through music. Dr. Kay Brown, a mentor, believes that Joshua is “poised to make an impact on the peacebuilding field, particularly in lifting up the intersection of art, faith and justice.”
Chandra Surya will begin an online Master of Arts: Theology and Global Anabaptism this fall at the Anabaptist Mennonite Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana. Chandra grew up as a Hindu but converted to Christianity at nineteen when he heard Jesus’ sermon on the mount. Touching him deeply to become a peacemaker he decided to earn a Bachelor of Theology degree. Currently living in Surkert, Nepal, he is employed as a Principal of a Bible School and pastor of a Mennonite church. Chandra is eager to learn more about peace making and conflict resolution to be an influencer in his home area for reduction of violence. He plans to teach new methods of achieving peace throughout his community and through courses for church planners and pastors provided at the Bible School. Dr. Longkumer of Antioch Missions in Nepal shared that he believes “the investment in Candra’s education will have a great impact on the people of Nepal”

| | This is a reminder that Revs. Timothy and Sara will never ask you for a church directory or gift cards via a poorly typed email. They won’t send an email saying, “I’m in a meeting right now so don’t call or text but just reply to this email.” If a message claims to be from them but isn’t coming directly from their church email addresses (which are again tcm@plymouthfw.org, or smo@plymouthfw.org), it is a scam email that you should delete and not respond to. | | | | Volunteers Needed for Nursery and Children's Fellowship Time | | |
We are seeking adult volunteers to help out with Children's Fellowship Time and to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings. If you like working with kids, this job is for you! Volunteers help once a month or less, either in the nursery or with Children's Fellowship Time, during the Sunday morning service. To volunteer with children, you must have been attending Plymouth services for at least six months, but you do not have to be an official member. Volunteers are also required to submit to a background check. If you are interested, please email Rev. Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouth.org. | | | | Become a Study Connection Tutor - Make a Difference in a Child's Life
| | |
This fall, Plymouth is celebrating the 13th year of a successful Study Connection with children, grades K-5, who attend Fairfield Elementary School. Study Connection typically begins in early October.
Tutors and children have fun getting to know each other. The main job of the tutor is to establish a relationship with the child to encourage and support learning. We are not substitute teachers, instead we are the child’s advocate, cheerleader and an adult friend, supporting the child at Study Connection's snack times, homework sessions, educational games and celebrations. Between 3:30 and 4:30 pm on Wednesday afternoons, the Folsom Room is alive with youthful voices and energy.
If you would like to be a tutor or a substitute, please let Lucy Hess know lrh22@frontier.com or call 484-4430. To apply, click here, and scroll down to the 'Volunteer' section to access the application form. All volunteers must have a background check which is done by the FWCS at no cost.
Everyone is welcome to be a special friend to an elementary-aged child. Providing support and encouragement is the main task for each tutor and sub. Being a tutor or sub is a great way to make a difference in a child’s life.

The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Plymouth Raised Bed Garden Spaces - New Plants Ready!
|
Some new plants are ready for harvesting in the raised bed garden spaces behind the church. You're welcome to grab some! Zucchini, cucumbers, green beans and peppers are all ready for picking.
This garden is intended to help feed our downtown neighbors, as well as Plymouth people - members, visitors and staff. Enjoy the harvest!
| | | | Office Volunteers Needed for Weekly Staff Meetings | | |
|
Do you have some time available on Tuesdays and are looking for something to do? Would you like to aid your favorite Plymouth Receptionist in making sure that everyone is greeted with a kind and smiling face? Do we have the opportunity for you! Plymouth staff are looking for volunteers to cover for the receptionist during the staff meetings every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. It’s a quiet time for the church, the most you may have to do is answer a phone call or two, maybe complete a small project.
To sign up as a volunteer, speak with Jake in the office or click the button below.
