| | Sunday, March 22 - Miami Nation on indigenous water practices | | |
| | |
This Sunday in adult chapel class, we welcome Claudia Hedeen from the Miami Nation to lead a session on indigenous traditions and practices around water. Claudia proudly serves her tribe through the Cultural Resources Extension Office (CREO), where she aspires to infuse the language and material culture of the Myaamia people into the places and activities shared through the CREO.

| | | | Sunday, March 22 - Lenten Reflection from the Green Team | | |
|
During Lent, the Green Team asks that we look at the land, water, and nature that surround us, and to learn not only the history, but our responsibility in honoring and caring for it.
The native plants are important because they support local birds, butterflies, and pollinators, as well as require less water and maintenance. They improve soil and water quality, and preserve Indiana’s natural heritage.
Native trees were mentioned earlier, but native shrubs include the dogwood, elderberry, spicebush, ninebark, buttonbush, juneberry, and witch hazel. Native wildflowers and prairie plants include the purple coneflower, black-eyed Susan, wild bergamot, butterfly wee, common milkweed, wild columbine, blazing star, goldenrod, asters, and prairie dock.
Native grasses include big and little bluestem, indian and switch grass, and fox sedge. Woodland and shade plants include trillium, Virginia bluebells, mayapple, wild ginger, jack-in-the-pulpit, and ferns. Wetland and river plants include cattails, soft rush, pickerelweed, blue flag iris, swamp milkweed, and cardinal flower.
WE GIVE THANKS FOR ALL THE BEAUTY GIVEN TO US THROUGH NATURE, AND PLEDGE TO PRESERVE IT FOR OTHERS.
| | | | Sunday, March 22 - Pride at Plymouth Task Force Volunteers | | |
| | |
Pride at Plymouth will be here in just a few short months. The Evangelism and Marketing Board is recruiting volunteers for a Pride Task Force that will start in March to plan and implement this June event. You do not need to be a church member to join the task force. Anyone is welcome who wants to be part of creating a day that honors our open and affirming covenant. To volunteer or to get more information contact Rev. Sara (smo@plymouthfw.org) or Vicky Pogue (vlpogue@gmail.com).
We'll meet after worship this Sunday in the Amistad Room, so please join us if you want to help with the planning!
| | | | Sunday, March 22 - Plymouth Music Series: Catharsis at the Keys | | |
| | Featuring the Allen Digital concert organ and the Steinway Grand in the Sanctuary, this Sunday Plymouth's music director Maestro Robert Nance will perform "Catharsis at the Keys: A Keyboard Concert," a delightful program of keyboard favorites. The concert is part of the Plymouth Music Series, is free and open to the public, and starts at 2 pm in the Plymouth Sanctuary. |
| | | Tuesday, March 24 - Singing Resistance Gathering | | |
| | |
Join fellow Fort Wayne residents for an evening of singing resistance! We will gather for a simple supper and an evening of singing together from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, March 24 at Plymouth Church. A sign-up sheet is located in the Folsom Room.
Singing Resistance is building a mass movement of singers to protect and care for our communities in the face of rising authoritarianism. We welcome everyone into the movement for collective liberation. We are fighting for a future in which all people - Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, trans, queer, disabled, poor - and the Earth are safe and sovereign. Through song, we can refuse to obey what authoritarianism wants us to do - get small, numb out, and forget. Instead, we will mobilize our communities in public, we will feel, and we will tell the truth of the violence and of the resistance.

You’ll be asked to provide the book’s title and author, and you’re invited to include a brief comment sharing why you think it would be a meaningful addition. Help us continue building a library that inspires, informs, and enriches our entire church community.
As we journey through the season of Lent, we invite you to visit the church library’s book table featuring titles that reflect on themes of reflection, repentance, justice, and renewal. These books offer thoughtful perspectives to accompany your Lenten practice and deepen your spiritual journey. We hope you will find something that encourages reflection during this sacred season. Books there include: Henri's Mantle: 100 Meditations on Nouwen's Legacy; Sitting Still: an Encounter with Christian Zen, by Patricia Hart Clifford; Church of the Wild, by Victoria Loorz; and Out of Solitude by Henri J.M. Nouwen. These and other books are available for you to check out. | | | | Adult Nursery Volunteers Needed
Plymouth is looking for a few more adult volunteers to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings, starting in the new year. Volunteers are scheduled to assist no more than once a month and are needed during the Sunday morning worship hour. If you would like to help out, please see Rev. Ofner-Seals or email her at smo@plymouthfw.org.
The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Open Prayer in the Sanctuary
For a time of personal prayer, the sanctuary will be available Tuesday through Thursday during office hours. Please enter through the Berry Street office entrance and check in with our receptionist. Contact Jake Slone at (260) 423-9424 or jss@plymouthfw.org with any questions.
