Sunday, May 10 - Chapel Class: Non-Cooperation Training Overview

Jan Evrard will be leading a review of the Non-Cooperation Training that was originally presented by Ignite Peace in November of last year. If you did not attend that presentation, you have the opportunity to learn about the issues of criminal justice and immigration justice through the frameworks of nonviolence and anti-racism. This two sessions class will be held on 5/10 and 5/17.

Chapel Class is open to all adults at 9:00 am every Sunday, in person or on zoom. The password for zoom is 247302.

Sunday, May 10 - Anti-Racism Thought of the Week

Segregationist Idea: Any notion that suggests that a permanently inferior racial group

can never be developed, which justifies policies and practices that kill, terrorize, deport,

incarcerate, or separate away that racial group.

- Ibram X. Kendi, author of How to Be Anti-Racist

Wednesday, May 13 - Wednesday Night Live

All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to the inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!

The scripture for this Wednesday is John 17:1-11.

The passcode to join Bible Study on Zoom is 773232.

Saturday, May 16 - Bev McFadden Memorial Service

Saturday, May 16 - ICE OUT of Miami Correctional

Come and join this statewide action, happening locally in Fort Wayne at the Allen County Courthouse. We will gather at 1:00 pm at the courthouse to hear inspiring speakers and learn some singing resistance songs. Then we will march and sing our way to the Allen County Jail to conclude the action with a song in front of the jail.

Planned by The Indiana Organizing Project across the state, and locally by Plymouth Church Fort Wayne, Fuerza Unida, and Indivisible Northeast Indiana, we are taking action to object to ICE detainment at the Miami Correctional Facility. For more information and to RSVP, click the link below. Hope to see you there!

Upcoming Events

Sunday, May 17 - Confirmation, Graduate Sunday & Ice Cream Social

Sunday, May 17 will be a special and busy Sunday at the church. We'll have our final springtime Sunday School classes at 9:00 am (Sunday School resumes in the fall). We will also celebrate our confirmands and graduates during the 10:00 am service.

Sunday, May 27 - Maternal Health & Reproductive Access Town Hall

Across Indiana, families are navigating what it means to thrive during pregnancy, while raising children, and when making deeply personal decisions about their bodies and futures. As we prepare for the next legislative session, we’re bringing neighbors together to talk about what’s happening in our communities, across the state, and around the country.

Indiana Reproductive Health and Access Coalition is hosting a town hall event at Plymouth on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 pm, in partnership with All-Options and Planned Parenthood. Whether you’re a new parent, a healthcare provider, someone still forming your opinion, or simply looking to better understand what’s at stake, this event is for you.

June 6-7 - Brian Recker: Deconstructing Fear-Based Religion

Brian Recker, M.Div, is a public theologian, speaker, and author of the national best-selling Hell Bent: How the Fear of Hell Holds Christians Back from a Spirituality of Love. The son of a Baptist preacher and an alum of the fundamentalist Bob Jones University, he spent eight years as an evangelical pastor before deconstructing his faith to find a more inclusive spirituality. He now speaks about following Jesus without fear of hell on his popular Instagram account and his Substack, Beloved.

Brian will be speaking at Plymouth on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7:

Saturday, June 6, 7:00 pm - Public Talk - 'Deconstructing Fear-Based Religion' - open to the public, suggested donation $10

Sunday, June 7, 9:00 am - Plymouth Chapel Class

Saturday, June 20 - Plymouth Night at the TinCaps

Take us all out to the ball game! Saturday, June 20 will be Plymouth night at the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The TinCaps face the South Bend Cubs, and a firework show will follow the game. A sign up sheet is available in the Folsom Room, or at the link below.

June 22-June 26 - Intergenerational Faith & Creativity Week

This summer, Plymouth is presenting a week-long intergenerational faith and creativity experience for food, fellowship, fun and creative expression.

Over the week of June 22, this experience will activate your creativity -- your unique connection to the divine, to humanity and all creation. You'll engage your imagination and build connections in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Creative areas include Vocal, Instrumental, Handbells, Drama, Poetry & Storytelling, Movement, and Art.

Whether you're young or young at heart, there's something here to touch your soul and ignite your creative spirit this summer. Registration is free and open to the public, but space is limited to 100 participants. Sign ups will be available soon!
