| | Sunday, May 3 - Chapel Class: Plymouth by Way of Deconstruction | | |
| | |
This Sunday's Chapel Class is entitled "Coming to Plymouth by Way of Deconstruction." Genny Van Amerongen and Garrett Pogue will each share how they found Plymouth as their church home. As a part of that, they will tell how their faith journey moved them from previous evangelical beliefs to a more progressive faith.
Chapel Class is open to all adults at 9:00 am every Sunday, in person or on zoom. The password for zoom is 247302.
| | | | Sunday, May 3 - Anti-Racism Thought of the Week | | |
|
Assimilationist idea: Any notion that suggests that a racial group is culturally or
behaviorally inferior, which justifies support for cultural or behavioral enrichment
programs to develop that racial group.
- Ibram X. Kendi, author of How to Be Anti-Racist
| | | | Sunday, May 3 - New Member Welcoming Group | | |
| | Our next WELCOMING GROUP will meet Sunday, May 3, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. If you have been attending Plymouth for six months or longer, and your faith journey is leading you to explore becoming a member, this is a one-time required session. Whether you are confident, confused, or curious, our time together is focused on orientation, conversation, interpretation, and exploration. It is an opportunity for you to ask questions and to meet others who are considering affirming their formal relationship with Plymouth Church, UCC. A light lunch will be provided, and childcare is available upon request. | | | | Wednesday, May 6 - Wednesday Night Live | | |
| | |
Wednesday Night Live programming returns this Wednesday. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal. At 5:15 pm there will be Bible Study with Rev. Timothy, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm. Dementia support group meets at 6:45 pm.
All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to the inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!
The scripture for this Wednesday is 1 Peter 5:6-11.
The passcode to join Bible Study on Zoom is 773232.
| | | | Saturday, May 16 - ICE OUT of Miami Correctional | | |
| | |
Come and join this statewide action, happening locally in Fort Wayne at the Allen County Courthouse. We will gather at 1:00 pm at the courthouse to hear inspiring speakers and learn some singing resistance songs. Then we will march and sing our way to the Allen County Jail to conclude the action with a song in front of the jail.
Planned by The Indiana Organizing Project across the state, and locally by Plymouth Church Fort Wayne, Fuerza Unida, and Indivisible Northeast Indiana, we are taking action to object to ICE detainment at the Miami Correctional Facility. For more information and to RSVP, click the link below. Hope to see you there!
| | | | Volunteers Needed for Pride at Plymouth | | |
| | This year's Pride at Plymouth celebration will be held on Saturday, June 13. We are looking for Plymouth members and friends to volunteer in a number of ways such as helping with kids' crafts, staffing the welcome table, helping with concessions, and set up. Please sign up to volunteer at the link below! | | | | New & Improved Food Locker - Donations | | |
| | |
Donations are always needed for our (new and improved!) Community Food Locker in the Plymouth parking lot, as the locker is in high demand. We need your help to restock the shelves! Please consider donating any of the following items:
Canned goods (soups, vegetables, fruits, meats), pasta & rice, peanut butter & jelly, cereal & breakfast items, shelf-stable milk, snacks (crackers, granola bars, etc.), ready-to-eat items (pop-top cans, protein bars, fruit cups, tuna packets, or other foods that can be opened and eaten immediately).
Thank you for your generosity and support!
| | | | Adult Nursery Volunteers Needed | | |
Plymouth is looking for a few more adult volunteers to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings, starting in the new year. Volunteers are scheduled to assist no more than once a month and are needed during the Sunday morning worship hour. If you would like to help out, please see Rev. Ofner-Seals or email her at smo@plymouthfw.org.
The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Open Prayer in the Sanctuary
For a time of personal prayer, the sanctuary will be available Tuesday through Thursday during office hours. Please enter through the Berry Street office entrance and check in with our receptionist. Contact Jake Slone at (260) 423-9424 or jss@plymouthfw.org with any questions.
