| | |
On Sunday, May 31, Heartland Sings will perform the Enduring Light concert at the church from 4:00-5:15 pm. Enduring Light will invite audiences to fan the spark of inspiration into a lasting flame. The program will feature two large works for chorus, piano, and string orchestra. Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass will tell the story of triumph after struggle, and Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, will take audiences through “a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion, but as Light gradually returns, hope is restored, illuminating our future and guiding us in peace.” (Elaine Hagenberg)
A number of tickets are available for Plymouth members and friends, in appreciation of the church's support for Heartland Sings. If you would like a ticket, please contact Bob Nance at robert@maestronance.com.
| | | | Sunday, May 31 - Anti-Racism Thought of the Week | | |
|
"If we stop using racial categories, then we will not be able to identify racial inequity. If
we cannot identify racial inequities, then we cannot challenge racist policies.
Terminating racial categories is potentially the last, not the first, step in the antiracist
struggle."
- Ibram X. Kendi, author of How to Be Anti-Racist

| | | | June 30-July 23- English Conversation Class | | |
|
| Lisa Deck, an employee with Fort Wayne Community Schools, is going to be hosting an English Conversation Class at Plymouth Church for four weeks this summer. The class is designed to build confidence and fluency in English through conversation, grammar, and vocabulary. All students are required to be intermediate to advanced English speakers. Lisa is looking for any volunteers who would be willing to assist with having conversations with her students. She is willing to provide training that is going to be scheduled sometime on June 25. The class itself will meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting on June 30 and ending on July 23. You would be able to sign up for as many classes as you would like to help with. There is no commitment besides what you arrange. If you are interested, please reach out to Tony at tdr@plymouthfw.org. | | | | Farewell & Communications | | |
|
| |
As some of you may know, our Communication Specialist, Zach, will be leaving his position as of June 4. He will spend the next two weeks with Dr. Michael Spath's Solidarity Tour in Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Hebron and Ramallah before returning to an interim pastor role at Cedar Lake Church of Brethren in Auburn, IN.
We are currently in the beginning stages of looking for the next right candidate for this important role. In the meantime, if you have communication or marketing items that need to be addressed, please send those to both Tony (tdr@plymouthfw.org) and Jake (jss@plymouthfw.org) for attention. Zach will be truly missed and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
| | | | Planting the Plymouth Gardens | | |
| | It’s planting time and the Green Team is ready to put some seeds and plants in the raised beds behind the church. If you have extras that you want to donate, please contact Jan Gibson at jsgibson443@gmail.com. We’re interested in vegetables that are easy to pick and share. | | | |
The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Open Prayer in the Sanctuary
For a time of personal prayer, the sanctuary will be available Tuesday through Thursday during office hours. Please enter through the Berry Street office entrance and check in with our receptionist. Contact Jake Slone at (260) 423-9424 or jss@plymouthfw.org with any questions.
