Sunday, November 16 - Chapel Class: Christology

Chapel class concludes this Sunday, as Rev. Murphy leads us in an exploration of what’s called Christology. This is thinking about Christ. We will discuss Jesus’ humanity and divinity, how the church has spoken about this, what the New Testament has to say about Jesus, and how we today can think about what it means for Jesus to be the Christ.

Chapel Class is open to all adults at 9:00 am every Sunday, in person or on zoom. The password for zoom is 247302.

Sunday, November 16 - 'The Gift of the Magi' Performance

Experience the warmth and wonder of the season with "The Gift of the Magi", a touching operatic retelling of O. Henry’s beloved Christmas story. This intimate production follows Jim and Della, a poor married couple who long to give each other meaningful Christmas gifts, only to discover that love itself is the greatest gift of all. A perfect way to begin your holiday season, join us for "The Gift of the Magi", a heartfelt celebration of love, generosity, and the true spirit of Christmas.

Directed by Maestro Robert Nance and featuring incredible singers from Heartland Sings, this cherished American chamber opera captures the humor, tenderness, and timeless beauty of selfless devotion.

Sunday, November 16 - Boar's Head Casting Deadline, Meetings

The 49th annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival is right around the corner! Right now we are still working on casting, so if you, your family, or your friends are interested in being involved please email Kara at kkjaurigue@gmail.com. The casting deadline is Sunday, November 16.

This leads to the next bit of Boar's Head information. The all-cast meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 16 at 1:00 pm in the Folsom Room. Cast and crew members will get their rehearsal schedules, tickets will be available, and folks will get fitted for costumes. It's a fun time to catch up with your BH family!

This year the festival services fall on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday December 30 at 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm each day. Tickets are free, and church members can have up to six tickets. Ticket distribution dates are Sunday, December 7, 14, and 21 before and after church in the Folsom Room. If you are interested in becoming a Festival Patron, with a donation of $50 or higher, you get six tickets, your name in the program, and a patron letter sent to you each November, allowing you early access to festival tickets. If you'd like to become a festival patron, please email Roger Eversole at red9pencil@gmail.com.

Stay tuned for more Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival information!

Sunday, November 16 - Picture Day!

On Sunday, November 16, we will be taking people's pictures for the digital directory. Congregational Life member Joy Grow will be on hand in the Folsom Room before and after church to snap photos that will be uploaded to the digital directory. This is a great way for newer church members and attendees to learn faces and names, so we hope to get participation from as many members as possible.

Tuesday, November 18 - Michael Popp Memorial Service

A memorial service for Michael Popp will be held in the Plymouth sanctuary on Tuesday, November 18. The service will begin at 11:00 am. All are welcome to attend.

Tuesday, November 18 - Women's Book Study: The Tobacco Wives

The book choice for Plymouth's Women's Book Study's last meeting of 2025 is The Tobacco Wives by Adele Myers. The story follows a young seamstress in a North Carolina tobacco town of the 1940's. As she sews for the finest women there, she is challenged by finding out what tobacco is doing to the community.

Our discussion will take place Tuesday, November 18 at 11:15 am in the Amistad Room - note the new time! Any self-identifying woman is welcome to join us on a drop-in basis or for a longer time.

Wednesday, November 19 - Wednesday Night Live

Wednesday Night Live programming continues this Wednesday. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal and children's choir rehearsal. Bible Study with Rev. Timothy will begin at 5:15 pm, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm, and Progressive Christianity 101 starts at 6:45 pm.

All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities, or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!

Plymouth Church will host a collective non-cooperation training on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10 am-4 pm. Lunch will be provided.

To RSVP for the training, please email Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org. The cost of the training is $20 to offset the cost of the training and lunch. Financial assistance is available. Checks can be made out to Plymouth Congregational Church, with 'Peace and Justice' in the memo line. You can also pay online at www.plymouthfw.org and be sure to select 'Peace and Justice' from the drop-down menu on the donation page.

Sunday, November 23 - Special Offering: Positive Resource Connection

The mission of the Northeast Indiana Positive Resource Connection is to prevent new cases of HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis, and STDs and advance a compassionate and stigma-free community response.

PRC's in-house Gregory L. Manifold Food Pantry is designed to provide a stop gap shopping opportunity for HIV+ clients to self-select basic yet critical food and toiletries that they might otherwise go without each month. It always stocks high protein foods including frozen beef, chicken, and pork plus easy to prepare boxed/canned/frozen foods. It also tries to stock basic need items like toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, laundry soap, etc. The need for food assistance has ballooned in the last two years and again this year, with the pantry budget going from $24,000 in 2024 to $48,000 in 2025 and already surpassing that amount.

Good and consistent nutrition is essential in sustaining good health especially when challenged with a life-life chronic disease like HIV. The Gregory L. Manifold is a vital component in our client's overall health and longevity.

Tuesday, November 25 - Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

Let's join together and celebrate our "Community of Communities." On Tuesday, November 25 at 7:00 pm Congregation Acduth Vesholom will host a dozen other congregations for an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at 5200 Old Mill Road, Fort Wayne. This opportunity to come together in fellowship honors our community, our various traditions, and our thanks for each other.

A reception will immediately follow, and freewill donations will support Alive Community Outreach.

Friday, December 5 - City of Churches Tour

We are once again participating in Fort Wayne's City of Churches Tour. We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to help welcome guests as they come to view the sanctuary. Volunteer shifts are from 4-6 pm and 6-8 pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email Rev. Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org

Tuesday, December 9 - Make the Yuletide Gay

It's your newest holiday tradition! Don your gay apparel and cozy up next to three award-winning songwriters for a night of holiday classics, original music, storytelling, comfort, and joy on Tuesday, December 9, 7 pm at Plymouth. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

2025 International Folk Music Artist of the Year award winner Crys Matthews is joined by genre-defying artist/activist Heather Mae and shame-slaying singer-songwriter drag queen Flamy Grant for a winter show like no other. We're making merry and celebrating the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community in a time when so many are trying to silence their voices. Don't miss this night of feel-good, uplifting, soul-filling music as we Make the Yuletide Gay.

Tickets are $12.50 and can be purchased at the link below, or at the door. For those needing assistance with the cost of the ticket, please email Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org.

General Announcements

Poinsettia Orders Available

Poinsettia orders are now available for the Christmas season. Poinsettas will be delivered to the church and can be picked up after Christmas Eve service. The flowers can be ordered on their own, or dedicated "In Honor," "In Memory," or "In Celebration." You can find more information and the order form at the link below.

Parking Lot Food Pantry Donations

As the government shutdown continues and SNAP benefits run out for many Fort Wayne residents, we encourage folks to donate to our parking lot food pantry. Items must be non-perishable, and we recommend that canned goods have a pop-off tab for those who are unhoused. Recommended items are peanut butter, canned tuna or beans, canned soup, cooking oil, rice and pasta. Toiletry items are also popular. Items can be placed directly into the pantry at any time, or you may place your contribution in the food bins in the Folsom Room (located underneath the information counter by the exterior entrance).

Safety Attendants

The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link.

Open Prayer in the Sanctuary

For a time of personal prayer, the sanctuary will be available Tuesday through Thursday during office hours. Please enter through the Berry Street office entrance and check in with our receptionist. Contact Jake Slone at (260) 423-9424 or jss@plymouthfw.org with any questions.
