Sunday, November 9 - Chapel Class: Christology

Chapel class continues this Sunday, as Rev. Murphy leads us in an exploration of what’s called Christology. This is thinking about Christ. Over the course of three weeks, we will discuss Jesus’ humanity and divinity, how the church has spoken about this, what the New Testament has to say about Jesus, and how we today can think about what it means for Jesus to be the Christ.

Chapel Class is open to all adults at 9:00 am every Sunday, in person or on zoom. The password for zoom is 247302.

Sunday, November 9 - Plymouth Bell Ensemble Concert

Plymouth Congregational Church’s talented, intergenerational bell ensemble presents a program of music written for handbells, choir chimes and organ this Sunday! This Plymouth Music Series concert celebrates 25 years of leadership under the direction of music associate Tim Cunningham. It is free and open to the public, and begins at 2 pm in the church sanctuary.

Sunday, November 9 - ICMEP Gala 2025

Indiana Center for Middle East Peace welcomes former Congresswoman Cori Bush to Fort Wayne for Gala 2025.

Cori Bush is a politician, nurse, minister, and advocate for racial justice who served as US representative for Missouri’s 1st Congressional District from 2021-2025. She was a member of “The Squad” in the House, along with other women of color – Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (NY), Rashida Tlaib (MI), Ilhan Omar (MN), Ayanna Pressley (MA). She was one of the first representatives to call for a Ceasefire after October 7, 2023, and is an ardent supporter of Palestinian political and human rights.

The Gala is ICMEP's major annual fundraising event and helps support programs throughout the year. The Gala includes a reception for benefactors with Cori on Saturday night, keynote speeches from she and Adam Shapiro on Sunday, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. Monday, November 10 – Solar Advocacy Opportunity

Plymouth members are invited to come to an important hearing in New Haven this coming Monday, November 10 at 5:30 pm for their proposed solar ordinance. New Haven is on track to allow for more solar deployment with reasonable setbacks, but the Area Plan Commission may face pressure to make it more restrictive for solar. This is an opportunity to put our faith into action. You don’t need to be a resident of New Haven to show up. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Brian Flory at bflory@solarunitedneighbors.org. Attendees are welcome to make public comment, but just your presence will help make a difference. The hearing will be located at the New Haven City Building, 815 Lincoln Hwy E, New Haven, IN, 46774.

Wednesday, November 12 - Wednesday Night Live

Wednesday Night Live programming continues this Wednesday. At 5:00 pm there will be adult choir rehearsal and children's choir rehearsal. Bible Study with Rev. Timothy will begin at 5:15 pm, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm. Handbells will meet at 6:30 pm, and Progressive Christianity 101 starts at 6:45 pm.

All activities are open to anyone in the church, regardless of membership status. Come for activities, or just come for dinner and fellowship! The suggested cost for dinner is $10 per person, though no one will be turned away due to inability to pay. If you plan to come for dinner, please sign up in the Folsom Room in advance so our caterer knows how much food to prepare. Hope to see you there!

This leads to the next bit of Boar's Head information. The all-cast meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 16 at 1:00 pm in the Folsom Room. Cast and crew members will get their rehearsal schedules, tickets will be available, and folks will get fitted for costumes. It's a fun time to catch up with your BH family!

This year the festival services fall on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday December 30 at 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm each day. Tickets are free, and church members can have up to six tickets. Ticket distribution dates are Sunday, December 7, 14, and 21 before and after church in the Folsom Room. Sunday, November 16 - Picture Day!

On Sunday, November 16, we will be taking people's pictures for the digital directory. Congregational Life member Joy Grow will be on hand in the Folsom Room before and after church to snap photos that will be uploaded to the digital directory. This is a great way for newer church members and attendees to learn faces and names, so we hope to get participation from as many members as possible.

Tuesday, November 18 - Women's Book Study: The Tobacco Wives

The book choice for Plymouth's Women's Book Study's last meeting of 2025 is The Tobacco Wives by Adele Myers. The story follows a young seamstress in a North Carolina tobacco town of the 1940's. As she sews for the finest women there, she is challenged by finding out what tobacco is doing to the community.

Our discussion will take place Tuesday, November 18 at 11:15 am in the Amistad Room - note the new time! Any self-identifying woman is welcome to join us on a drop-in basis or for a longer time.

Thursday, November 20 - November 2025 Bell Edition

The Bell tolls for November! Our last Bell newsletter for 2025 will be sent out in the last week of November. If you have articles you would like included in this edition, please email Zach Heimach at wzh@plymouthfw.org on or before November 20! Thank you!

Saturday, November 22 - Non-Cooperation Training

Plymouth Church will host a collective non-cooperation training on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10 am-4 pm. The training will be led by members of the Freedom Trainers Collective-- a loose network of trainers teaching folks the tools of collective noncompliance and mass noncooperation based on the tactics of non-violence. Lunch will be provided.

To RSVP for the training, please email Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org. The cost of the training is $20 to offset the cost of the training and lunch. Financial assistance is available. Checks can be made out to Plymouth Congregational Church, with 'Peace and Justice' in the memo line. You can also pay online at www.plymouthfw.org and be sure to select 'Peace and Justice' from the drop-down menu on the donation page.

This will be an opportunity to come together in fellowship to honor our community, our various traditions, and our thanks for each other.

A reception will immediately follow, and freewill donations will go to support Alive Community Outreach.

Friday, December 5 - City of Churches Tour

We are once again participating in Fort Wayne's City of Churches Tour. We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to help welcome guests as they come to view the sanctuary. Volunteer shifts are from 4-6 pm and 6-8 pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email Rev. Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org

Tuesday, December 9 - Make the Yuletide Gay

It's your newest holiday tradition! Don your gay apparel and cozy up next to three award-winning songwriters for a night of holiday classics, original music, storytelling, comfort, and joy on Tuesday, December 9, 7 pm at Plymouth. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

2025 International Folk Music Artist of the Year award winner Crys Matthews is joined by genre-defying artist/activist Heather Mae and shame-slaying singer-songwriter drag queen Flamy Grant for a winter show like no other. We're making merry and celebrating the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community in a time when so many are trying to silence their voices. Don't miss this night of feel-good, uplifting, soul-filling music as we Make the Yuletide Gay.

Tickets are $12.50 and can be purchased at the link below, or at the door. For those needing assistance with the cost of the ticket, please email Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouthfw.org.

General Announcements

October Solar Panel Output

During the month of October, Plymouth's 30 rooftop solar panels produced a total of 633.74 kWh of energy. For reference, the average US home uses approximately 30 kWh of energy per day. This brings the total output for 2025 to 7.31 MWh.

Poinsettia Orders Available

Poinsettia orders are now available for the Christmas season. Poinsettas will be delivered to the church and can be picked up after Christmas Eve service. The flowers can be ordered on their own, or dedicated "In Honor," "In Memory," or "In Celebration." You can find more information and the order form at the link below.

Parking Lot Food Pantry Donations

As the government shutdown continues and SNAP benefits run out for many Fort Wayne residents, we encourage folks to donate to our parking lot food pantry. Items must be non-perishable, and we recommend that canned goods have a pop-off tab for those who are unhoused. Recommended items are peanut butter, canned tuna or beans, canned soup, cooking oil, rice and pasta. Toiletry items are also popular. Items can be placed directly into the pantry at any time, or you may place your contribution in the food bins in the Folsom Room (located underneath the information counter by the exterior entrance).

Safety Attendants

The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. An attendant will greet late comers in the Narthex during worship, be responsible for communicating with the office in the event of a medical emergency or natural disaster, aid in fire and tornado drills, and more. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link.

Open Prayer in the Sanctuary

For a time of personal prayer, the sanctuary will be available Tuesday through Thursday during office hours. Please enter through the Berry Street office entrance and check in with our receptionist. Contact Jake Slone at (260) 423-9424 or jss@plymouthfw.org with any questions.
