| | |
This Sunday, October 12, Rev. Sara Ofner-Seals will continue a series on the genres of the Bible. We will discuss how different genres within the Bible demand different modes of interpretation, and how to read the Bible, not literally, but literarily.
Next Sunday, October 19, we will welcome guest presenters from Hoosiers United for the Separation of Church and State to lead a two-week series on Christian Nationalism.
Chapel Class is open to all adults at 9:00 am every Sunday, in person or on zoom. The password for zoom is 247302.

| | | | Wednesday, October 15 – Book Presentation and Signing by Dr. Timothy Lake | | |
| | The Rev. Dr. Timothy Lake, pastor of Union Baptist Church in Fort Wayne and a regular participant in the annual MLK, Jr. interfaith service, has a new book out! Dr. Lake has agreed to do a presentation and book signing here at Plymouth on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:45 pm in the Chapel following Wednesday Night Live dinner. The book looks at King’s and West’s thought on the ideals of democracy and their critiques of its practice in America, exploring how love is inseparable from justice in a democratic society. We hope to see you there! | | | | Saturday, October 18 - River Greenway Clean-Up | | |

| | |
October's choice for Plymouth's Women's Book Study is Naomi Klein's Doppelganger: A Trip Into The Mirror World.
Naomi Klein is an influential social critic, a perceptive analyst of what branding, austerity, and climate profiteering have done to our societies and souls. In this book she describes her disquiet with having a doppelganger, Naomi (Wolf). From that situation, she constructs a worldview within which to understand and potentially heal society's current divisions.
As always, WBS welcomes anyone identifying as a woman to join our discussion. We'll meet in the Amistad Room at noon on Tuesday, October 21.
| | | | Wednesday, October 22 - Progressive Christianity 101 Series | | |

The gatherings will meet for one hour starting at 6:45 pm in the Chapel. This educational series is designed for newcomers and anyone who would appreciate a refresher. Topics will include: 1) the authority of the Bible and experience, 2) images of Jesus, and the death and resurrection of Jesus, 3) different conceptions of God, and how we understand other religious traditions 4) the connection of social justice with our understanding of the gospel, and 5) sin and salvation. We look forward to seeing you there! | | | | Sunday, October 26 - Annual Election Nominations

We are seeking adult volunteers to help out with Children's Fellowship Time and to assist in the nursery on Sunday mornings. If you like working with kids, this job is for you! Volunteers help once a month or less, either in the nursery or with Children's Fellowship Time, during the Sunday morning service. Volunteers are also required to submit to a background check. If you are interested, please email Rev. Ofner-Seals at smo@plymouth.org.
The Safety Committee is looking for a few good folks to serve as Safety attendants periodically during worship services. If you would like to assist in this endeavor, please sign up at the following link. | | | | Open Prayer in the Sanctuary
