Angie Ferguson serves as the dedicated Executive Director of Drug Free Clubs of America (DFCA), where she leads a passionate team committed to empowering teens to make healthy, drug-free choices.
Angie’s journey with DFCA began in 2005 during a heartfelt conversation at a firehouse with her father, Joe (one of DFCA’s co-founders), and fellow firefighter, Kyle. They realized that too much focus existed on treatment rather than preventing initial use. That lunch sparked Angie’s “aha” moment, setting in motion a 20+ year career of equipping teens with powerful strategies so they may stand strong in the face of daunting pressures to use harmful substances.
Today, Angie channels her inspiration into the growth, innovation, and validation of DFCA’s impact. Substance-based threats to the youth are defeated by a unified system of support through collaborations with leaders in health care, education, military, business, and community service. The DFCA team has served over 80,000 student memberships and theirwork has been recognized through the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award, the United States Attorney Community Outreach Award, as a Jefferson Award Finalist, and in contribution to a book titled, Not Far From Me, which won the 2019 Schwartz Prize for outstanding work.
The Drug Free America Foundation stated that “by promoting health, fostering leadership, and building community connections, DFCA is creating a culture where prevention isn’t just a program—it’s a movement”. With Angie at the helm, DFCA continues its trajectory while staying true to its commitment to build a healthy, capable and inspired, drug-free youth.
