Last week, the Mittal Institute's Annual Cambridge Symposium welcomed supporters and Harvard faculty to speak about the arts, science and technology, health, and education in South Asia — and what the Mittal Institute and Harvard are doing to advance the scholarship on each of them.
The Mittal Institute's annual Seed for Change competition invites Harvard students to identify and solve pressing issues facing the people of South Asia. This week, the Gazette highlighted the winning team, Gramhal, and their work to improve livelihoods and end the cycle of debt amongst farmers in India.

In this demonstration, Pakistani musical sensation Ali Sethi and Harvard Professor Ali Asani will take you into the lyrical world of ghazals. The ghazal originated in Arabia in the 7th century and developed into a significant literary genre in Persian, Urdu, and other South Asian languages.

At this year's ARTS FIRST Festival, a bamboo sunshade created by Nadyeli Quiroz and John David Wagner will debut to display the need for shaded spaces of solidarity in Bangladesh's Rohingya refugee camp. The installation begins May 3 with a presentation on Saturday, May 4 at 3:00 PM.
