Sipping and Soft Stuff

It's my favorite Wednesday of the month...the 1st one. I so enjoy connecting with my community, chatting about new projects and new yarns and summer travels, and sipping some wine at Sip & Stitch!

I've been keeping my needles busy working on new pieces to display in the shop with some of the newest and softest yarns. Keep reading to find out more!

Last week, I highlighted Vernazza in my newsletter. And this week, Berroco announced that it's their featured yarn of the month. That honor means that all Vernazza patterns are free with yarn purchase during August! Visit the shop (physically or virtually) to pick colors for your next project and collect your free pattern!

Poema Cashmere

I have a new answer to the question, "What is the softest yarn in the shop?" It's Poema Cashmere!

Poema Cashmere is a new yarn from Laines du Nord. It combines the noblest fiber, cashmere, with the finest premium merino wool to compose a fiber that is dreamy to work with. Its pastel gradient colors convey softness and infinite delicacy. And each 100 gram ball contains 545 yards of light-worsted weight yarn!

I just finished a Boneyard Shawl using one ball in the Admiral Slate Grey color. I took lots of micro-breaks just to enjoy the softness of the fabric.

Madrona DK

Keeping with the topic of new soft, dreamy yarn, Madrona DK is another new favorite.

Madrona DK by HiKoo is a luscious blend of Baby Alpaca, Merino Wool, Bamboo and Nylon! With an amazingly soft hand and crisp stitch definition, it is perfect for cowls, hats, sweaters and so much more! And it's treated with EasyWash, allowing for delicate wash cycles.

I knit another Blank Canvas Tee this week in Madrona DK in the Mountain Laurel color.

Bulky Yarn Spotlight: Bestie

I've been adding new yarns to my Bulky and Super Bulky selection that I'll be highlighting over the next weeks. This week's bulky yarn in the spot light is Bestie by Berroco.

Bestie is a super bulky yarn is comprised of 33% Wool, 35% Polyamide (Nylon) and 30% Viscose and is a great option for quick bulky projects without being too warm, making it much more versatile and wearable for a wide range of temperatures.

The two-toned colors create a fun marled effected when worked up, and the colorway names are all a play on the "Bestie" name - referencing pairs such as "Salt & Pepper," "Mac & Cheese," "Rock & Roll," "Cat & Mouse," and more.

Stitching Help Desk Every Friday and Sunday

Have you lost your place in a pattern, forgotten a technique, or need to correct a mistake? Could you use some guidance? Join us for our new Stitching Help Desk Sessions where you can bring your project, join others and work along with the assistance of one of our knowledgeable staff members.

This is a communal help desk so plan on spending the hour learning with others and starting to enjoy your project again! Help Desk sessions are every Friday and Sunday from 12 - 1PM. Friday sessions are for knitting and crochet support. Sunday sessions are for knitting support only. Sign up in advance or just show up in the store.

New Classes and Workshops

Two classes are scheduled to start next week, but both need a few more people to sign up in order to run: Online: Knit the Baby Surprise Jacket and to In-store: Knit the Pines and Needles Shawl! In the Baby Surprise Jacket class, you will learn the basics of sweater construction and piecing. So even if you're not particularly interested in a baby project, the skills will scale to an adult garment.

And you don't want to miss the Beginner Yarn Dying Workshop that I announced last week. It's filling up fast!
