KRASL ART CENTER WELCOMES POETS & PERFORMERS TO NEWLY DESIGNED GREEN SPACE
The Sunset Coast Performance Series brings a variety of performances to St. Joseph, MI.
THURS., AUG. 1, 2019, ST. JOSEPH, MICH. - Enjoy the precious remaining days of summer relaxing in Krasl Art Center’s new green space grounds during the Sunset Coast Performance Series , presented by the Boekeloo family and in partnership with the GhostLight Theatre. These performances highlight regional talent and entertain audiences of all ages. Performances start at 5:30 PM and are free & open to the public.

On Thursday, August 15 , enjoy a night of poetry and a sneak preview of GhostLight Theatre’s production of Urinetown . Feated poets: Grand Rapids Poet Laureate, Fable the Poet ; KAC’s Inhaling the Universe artist Jon Hook ; and local writer Julia Turner present ideas on mental health, nature, and family. Fable The Poet is a nationally touring artist highly noted for his work with the youth; spreading Mental Health Awareness using his own stories to engage the audience, and spread the message: “At times, we all feel fragile. We are all paper boats entertaining the waves of life.” Jon Hook is a regenerative artist from LaPorte, IN, who works with the environment and exploring the mysteries of the natural world. Julia Turner is a local writer and grandmother debuting at this event, presenting her musing about her community and family.

On Thursday, September 19, regional musicians will perform high-quality music from  ENSEMBLE   CONCEPT/21  in addition to a cabaret performance from the 2019 GhostLight Theatre season.  Rebecca Hovan, Christopher French, and Jennifer Muniz will perform five pieces by contemporary American Midwest composers. Ensemble CONCEPT/21 (EC/21) is a new music ensemble at the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at Indiana University South Bend focused on performing and presenting music of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a special emphasis in promoting works by composers of the region. This evening is part of the  Geroge Krasl Memorial Concert Series.

Guests are encouraged to explore international creations from WERK IT! Food Truck of Benton Harbor and cool beverages from KAC’s concession stand during both performances. Bring your lawn chairs or beach blankets and relax on KAC’s new green space! In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be moved indoors.

About the GhostLight Theatre:
The GhostLight Theatre is a new theatre performance venue in the Benton Harbor Arts District seeking to illuminate the arts and culture of the area. They create events where children and adults are more than observers; they become active participants in the creation and exploration of a variety of performance media.
