Citizenship in Society -- Training for Counselors

Sunday, May 22, 7:30 to 9:00 pm

Are you interested in helping Scouts by becoming a counselor for the new Citizenship in Society Merit Badge?  If so, you will need to complete an "in person" Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training with the Council.   To meet this requirement, you are invited to join this 90 minute Zoom session that includes an overview of the material, suggestions on how to facilitate this badge, and links to useful resources.

No preregistration is required, however, you will be asked to submit your contact information in the chat so you can receive the supporting links after the meeting.

Tri-District Fall Camporee

Save the Date: October 21 to 23

Join the Troops of the Constellation, Minquas, and Baden-Powell Districts for a weekend of friendly Scouting-skills competitions.  Patrols will participate in 10 events, designed to be challenging yet achievable for any Scout, including AOLs, with awards for winners of each event and the Camporee.  This years event will be run by the experienced and enthusiastic Troop 98, whose Star Wars themed Camporee in 2017 was featured in Boys Life and Scouting magazines.  And we expect this year's to be even better.  It will be held at Green Lane Park, where Troops can come for the day or tent camp for the weekend.  More information will follow later, including registration and details on the events and skills to practice, but put this on your calendars now; it promises to be great!

Fun Fact to Know

Radnor Troop 284 traces its roots to 1912 with one of the first Scout Troops in the United States, Wayne 1. After the Wayne Troop diminished during World War I, it was replaced by Radnor Troop 1 in 1920. In the 1960's it became Troop 284, reflecting the National Scout Number assigned to the Troop.

Troop 284 meets in its own Scout Cabin, located on the Ardrossan property near the Willows. For more on the Troop and its history, check out the Troop's website.
