District Pinewood Derby Results
What Cub Scout has the fastest car in the District? That question was answered on May 1 at the District Pinewood Derby. Dozens of cars raced 24 heats to determine the fastest cars. Congratulations to our Top 5 Finishers:
- "Venom" by Cole Sebra
- "Beedrill" by Francis Hegadorn
- "Grave Digger" by Liam Weber
- "Harry Potter" by Teagan Keeler
- "Pinewood Fire" by Keegan Coyne
And our Best In Show winner was "Duck Boat" by Jacob Napier, which included flashing lights, motor sounds, and three passengers.
A special thanks to Troop 315 for hosting and running this year's event and to Main Line Public Television Radnor Studio 21 for filming and livestreaming the event. Thanks to them, you can check out this link to watch all the action (start at the 10-1/2 minute mark).

Recognizing our District All-Stars
Scouting succeeds thanks in large part to the efforts of adult volunteers. Do you know a leader or parent who makes your Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship a great place to be a Scout? Or makes a special event a success? Or helps the Constellation District support our Units? If so, nominate them to be a District All-Star by sending their name and a brief summary of how they contribute to Scouting to our Recognition Chair, Chalk Cunningham. Nominations are due by May 27.
And Save the Date for the annual District Picnic on Tuesday, June 14, where we come together in Fellowship and to celebrate our award winners.

Membership Events
Council has two workshops in May to help Units with recruiting and building membership:
And do you have a member recruiting event coming up and would like the District to help promote it? Use this link to submit details, request items such as printing flyers and Facebook promotions. Questions? Contact our Membership Specialist, Rhys Wallace.

Youth Leadership Training
National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
NYLT course is a six-day course centered around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW, and what a leader must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor setting with an emphasis on immediate application of learning in a fun environment.
There are two sessions being offered this summer by the Cradle of Liberty Council. Scouts must be at least 13 years old and have the rank of First Class:

Fun Fact to Know
Troop Bala One was founded in 1908, two years before the Boy Scouts of America was officially organized. A group of community leaders organized America’s first group of boys under the principles of scouting as set forth in Robert Baden-Powell’s book Scouting for Boys. Troop Bala One thus became the first unofficial Boy Scout troop in the U.S.
