Dear Sanborn Community,

As you are likely aware, SRHS has been closed as a precautionary measure due to COVID-19. Until further notice, students will engage on online learning and we will not be running any school events during this closure. The buildings are closed to all staff and students. We will be sending updates often to keep all in our community informed. Please read the information below. New updates will always be posted at the top of the page.

COVID-19 Health Updates From Nurse Karen
Student Council Virtual Spirit Week Activities:
Student Council has come up with some ideas to bring us together. Here are some events in the works:

1. We are hosting a food drive. If you have any non perishable items like pastas, rice, soup and the like, please bring to the school. There is a box in the vestibule. Please do not come in groups. Food will be safely distributed to families in need during this tough time.

2.Wednesday is devoted to our senior class. Seniors, please wear your college gear to class. We really want to see where you all are thinking of attending school in the fall. Show off your college pride. Teachers, wear your alumni wear too. Everyone else, if you have a college shirt, please wear it, otherwise, wear your Sanborn gear. Let's support our seniors!

3. Thursday is "Vacation Day". Oh, how we all long to be somewhere other than our houses. Have a Hawaiian shirt? Wear it. Something touristy...go for it. Can you set your computer background to somewhere fancy? Do it! Let's virtually travel together.

4. Friday is decorate your bedroom door day. Much like when we decorate our advisory doors...decorate your bedroom door and take a picture. Send to me and I will publicly post. Remember, this is your house....don't do something that will damage the door or get you into trouble, ok!?

5. Next Monday is hat day. can wear a hat to class!

6. StuCo will be hosting a wellness challenge with #sanbornmove Be on the lookout!
Senior Spotlight: Brayden LaChapelle
An Article by Staff Member Michele Wheeler
Brayden LaChapelle is an outstanding role model at Sanborn. He is approachable, smart, and above all, a leader in any endeavor he pursues.  

In the classroom Brayden is all in! He dissects assignments and tackles them head first always working toward a place of learning and understanding. Doc. Young notes that, “Brayden is one rugged Sanborn student. Not only does he have his tough sister, he also has to endure both AP Calculus and Physics Honors with me... sometimes for 3 periods per day, not including FLT times doing his homework or solving puzzles.” Señora Mercedes admires Brayden’s ability to “show enthusiasm and dedication in everything he does, and [he] always makes sure to help out his fellow students.” Brayden’s work ethic and desire to comprehend complex material is second to none.

In addition to his academic abilities and habits, Brayden is a leader. Mr. White reflects on Brayden’s leadership qualities in the classroom and on the court or field: “As a student, Brayden excels; he continuously hands in quality work as well as owns the leadership role in group projects. As an Athlete Brayden is the epitome of a great teammate; Brayden is a naturally gifted athlete that chooses to lead by example.” This past fall Brayden rose to the leadership challenge as the captain of Sanborn’s soccer team. In another leadership role, Brayden is currently the President of the National Honors Society where Ms. Richardson explains, “he helps keep everyone organized and uses his voice in a meaningful way in our community, advocating for more community outreach at the elementary schools and retirement homes.” Brayden’s positive influence on the Sanborn community does not stop there. He is also an active member of the Key Club and Life of a Student, both groups strive to help and improve the community. 

Sanborn will miss Brayden’s work ethic, desire to learn, and ability to lead but we are excited to hear about the positive impact he makes in the future as a mechanical engineer and an engaged citizen.
Sanborn Mathletes Take on the State Championships
An Update From Doc Young
The Sanborn Math Team recently (pre-online school...) made its yearly trip to Plymouth State University for the New Hampshire mathematics State Championships! Eight students were able to make the trip this year, competing against ~50 other high school teams from all across the state. These intrepid mathletes competed in two team rounds and individually in Recreational Math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Advanced Math. With a strange local math league calendar shortened by three contests due to weather, Finn, Abby, Meagan, Matt, Tessa, Jackie, Emma, and Izzi endured the spring-like weather at PSU, proudly represented SRHS, and put their brains and scientific calculators to the test! Way to go Mathletes!!
Ice Hockey Golf Tournament Moves to August
The first ever Sanborn High School Ice Hockey Program in Kingston, NH was established in 2012 with
the generosity of many businesses such as yours as well as our community. We competed at a Junior
Varsity Level for two years and are extremely excited that we are competing in our Fifth year as a
Varsity Team.

The Sanborn Ice Hockey players and their families are extremely dedicated and passionate. They
continue to work very hard in order to make the program possible. We have many talented and
dedicated hockey players who will continue to represent their school playing a sport they love.
Contributing to their high school athletic program will not only give them a great sense of belonging
and school pride but more importantly teaches life lessons. This is done with the help of a dedicated
coaching staff. They instill respect, discipline, teamwork perseverance and honesty. Unfortunately, our
hockey program does not receive funding for the program from the school budget. We continue to be
required to raise all the funds necessary to make this hockey program possible for our student athletes.
Sanborn Ice Hockey will be hosting our sixth annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 29th, 2020.
In order to make this fundraiser a great success, we are in need of hole sponsors as well as donations for
our raffle table. We greatly appreciate all donations and will work hard to maximize your company’s
visibility at our fundraising events. We will also publicly thank all the donors on our Facebook page as
well as our Hockey Program which is available at our games.

Athletic Updates From Athletic Director Vicki Parady-Guay
The New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (governing body for high school sports)
has announced that the first date to practice/tryout will be April 13th . The first date to play will
be April 27th. Games or contests lost in April will not be made up. Please be aware this could
change, as this is a fluid state of affairs. Also the school district may have their own restrictions
based on the local circumstances. The website will be kept updated as this situation unfolds.
Please stay safe and active through this time. Remember all outside school facilities are closed.

We hope that everyone is taking care of themselves. We realize that with the extra free time you may be exercising more than usual and might suffer an injury or experience a pain you might not be sure of. If this does happen, please know that you can email our trainer Jen Cray at between the hours 9:00am – 5:00pm. Important Health Tips From Nurse Karen
While the school is closed, remember to practice and reinforce good prevention habits with your friends and family:

  • MOST IMPORTANT: Practice social distancing. Avoid crowds, and stay at home as much as possible.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Online Learning Plan for SRHS Students During COVID-19 Closure
This is a tentative plan that is subject to change at any time:

Dear Staff, Students, and Parents/Guardians,

As you may be aware, the Sanborn Regional School District has recently announced that they are closing the schools due to COVID-19. The closure will run at least through April 3. The District has asked schools to switch to an “online learning” model in the interim. Teachers, counselors, and other professional staff at Sanborn spent Friday, March 13 planning for a move to an online environment during this time of national emergency.

Online learning will start on Thursday, March 19, 2020. 

What does this mean?

During online days, the building is closed to all staff and students (except custodians). There will be no one available to answer the phones at the school, so please do not call. If you need to reach a staff member, you will have to do so by email. CLICK HERE to access the staff email directory. Staff members will be available to answer emails throughout the typical school hours, emails that come in after the end of the school day may not be returned until the next school day.  

Student Academic Expectations

All students are expected to participate in the online activities that have been / will be prepared by teachers to be loaded into Google Classrooms each day.

The school has developed a schedule to run all periods on a two-day rotation known as “Blue” and “Gray” days. Odd periods will meet on “Blue” days, and even periods will meet on “Gray” days. Each day will start with an FLT period. Students can reach out via email to request help from a specific teacher. Teachers will also have the ability to request that students attend an FLT session with them. There is a 30 minute “break” for lunch. The schedule looks like this:
Students should start each class period by reviewing their teacher’s Google Classroom to see what activities have been assigned. If a student does not have access to their teacher’s Google Classroom, they will need to email their teacher(s) to get the code. Many teachers will choose to hold a “live event” at the beginning of the time associated with the period for their class (see above). This will be using Google Hangouts or other online video conferencing tools. Others may post a pre-recorded message or even email instructions. Although the introductory videos may be available after class time, it is expected that students will view/participate in those live classes as they happen. Following that, students will likely move at their own pace to complete daily, short-term assignments. Students may also be expected to complete and submit larger online activities/assignments by the beginning of the next class meeting for that particular course. Teachers will be available by email for office hours during the assigned times noted above. 


Teachers will be taking attendance, noting whether or not students are participating and completing assignments during their assigned classroom time. Deadlines will be enforced during online days. Students are expected to complete all assignments on time, or reach out to their teacher directly if they have questions or need an extension.

Academic Help:

Students will have access to additional academic intervention and support when needed. We will be establishing intervention specialists who will assist students with tutoring, as well as any technology issues that they may face. School Counselors will host office hours daily to address day-to-day issues, as well as continue working with our seniors as they approach graduation. In addition, counselors will provide additional offsite resources that will help students with any of their academic questions or needs.  


Students and staff will likely require time to recover from the normal illnesses that occur every year, as well as potential COVID-19 related issues. Counseling, Nursing, and Administrative staff will work with parents, guardians, and students to help resolve any issues or provide any assistance we can. Teachers will be flexible with their response to students encountering such issues. We ask in the strongest terms that you communicate health issues to school administrators as soon as possible so we may provide appropriate support. 

Special Education / 504s:

Over the last few days, we have received some guidance from the US and NH Departments of Education regarding special education services. Our Special Ed team met for most of the day to work on how best to support the needs of students with identified disabilities and 504 plans. Case Managers will communicate directly with students and parents to define these accommodations and modifications as the plans are finalized. 

Other School Activities:

During the closure, all student activities are suspended. As we receive further guidance from the NHIAA and other organizations, we will update you all via Constant Contact messages.

One Final Note:

Even with a day to plan, there will no doubt be unanticipated items to which we must respond. No one knows for how long we will be away from school. The social and emotional health of our students was very much in our minds as we planned for the next few weeks and potentially beyond. Counseling, teaching, and administrative staff plan to reach out to specific students to support them during this time away from their home here on Danville Road. We will be available to talk, to listen, and even to laugh as we all share in what may be the most significant shift in our lives in our lifetimes. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have ideas, concerns, questions, or anything else that comes to mind.

SoRock is a community coalition designed to promote wellness and nurture resiliency for the children, youth and families of southern Rockingham County, with the goals of preventing substance misuse and reducing the stigma related to mental health issues.

PTO Clothing & Shoe Donation Bins
When you drop your unwanted clothing and shoes off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students.  NOTE: Shoes must go in a separate bin.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
