Senior Spotlight: Sarah Broyer
Note: Each week, we will feature 1-2 seniors with a spotlight article, written by a staff member.
This article was written by teacher Meghan Petruzzi
Sarah Broyer is one of the sweetest and quietest students who leads by example. In A&P she was intrigued by the complex structure and physiology of the body, including how the changes of those can affect one’s physical and mental health. During class, Sarah is very dedicated to her schoolwork and is a conscientious student. Sarah’s resolve to succeed was seen during her junior year when she worked diligently with her teachers to finish the year strong in order to set herself up for her senior year. Sarah works hard, communicates with her teachers, and is determined to do well.

Sarah would like to pursue a career as a nurse and is specifically considering being a NICU nurse. NICU appeals to her because she is amazed by the advanced technology that helps premature babies barely able to survive when born prematurely or with other problems grow enough to be able to go home and be healthy. Sarah wants to be a part of this field that plays such an important role in starting off life and to truly make a difference.

Outside of school Sarah has kept busy with sports playing softball since the fourth grade. Softball has played a big role in her life and has taught her the importance of teamwork and collaboration. She has earned softball MVP multiple years. Sarah also plays the piano for enjoyment and to maintain her own personal wellness. Sarah is very personable, approachable, and enriches the classroom experience for all.

An Update From Southern Rockingham Coalition for Youth (SoROCK)
Hello Sanborn Community!
It seems that Winter has found us a little early this year! I hope everyone is staying warm. SoRock was very busy over the end of Summer into the Fall! We enjoyed meeting many people at the Ellis School open house and Girl Scout Safety Event in September. In October our towns participated in the DEA Drug Take Back day and some of our Sanborn Leo’s were even able to partner with the police department this year!  We participated in the Sanborn Senior Day of Caring and conducted a focus group to gather the important insight of teens on substance misuse trends in their communities. We also launched new sessions of both our P.A.S.T.A Caregiver and grandparent support group as well as Staying Connected to your Teen workshop’s. In October we also partnered with the Austin 17 House, UNH Cooperative Extension and the NH Chapter of the National Society for Suicide Prevention on 2 mental health and suicide awareness events for parents and community members. October ended with Red Ribbon Prevention Awareness week and we kicked off November with presentations to both HS students and the community by International mental and physical health/performance expert John Underwood!

SoRock is a community-based coalition with over a 25-year history of working collaboratively with federal, state and local organizations to help promote, support and sustain healthy choices for families in our communities. We do this by actively working to reduce and prevent alcohol, marijuana, prescription and other drug misuse.  SoRock relies on community engagement to be successful in it’s mission. Please visit our website sorocknh.org or follow us on social media @SoRockNH to stay up to date on prevention programming and events in the area.  If you would like to get more involved reach out to me at [email protected] or give me a call anytime at 603-642-3341 x 196.

An Important Message From School Administrators:
PTO Clothing Donation Bins
When you drop your unwanted clothing off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
