As we ring in the class of 2020 and welcome back returning students, we look forward to another successful year at Iowa State University.
This summer, Iowa State was named the
best college in Iowa
for providing high quality education at an affordable price.
Iowa State continues to offer the lowest tuition and fees of its peer institutions. The university has raised nearly $190 million for student support and scholarships, and as a result, student debt has declined 8.5% (down 11% for resident students) in just three years.
Having served more than 62,000 students, Iowa State has 80 learning communities that help students transition to college. In addition to strong academics, Iowa State has something for everyone with over 800 students clubs and organizations. And extracurricular involvement doesn't slow students down with the placement rate for jobs or continuing education six months after graduation at 95%.
Beyond the classroom, Ames was ranked the
number one college town in the country for providing a well-rounded college experience.
With increasing student demand,
more than 12,000 students live in university housing, and not a single student is living in dens or temporary housing this fall.
Walking from the residence halls to class on the
fifth most beautiful campus in the world,
Ames has that small-town charm, but also offers big-city opportunities.
As part of the ISU Research Park's expansion and gateway to the Cultivation Corridor, the new Economic Development Core Facility will be the home of the university's economic development enterprise and will greatly enhance the positive impact the university will have on the state's economy.
At the ISU Research Park, companies have the opportunity to leverage one of Iowa State's greatest assets - the student population. With internships, part-time and full-time positions, Iowa State students benefit from on-the-job training while they pursue their degree.
As Iowa's only land-grant university, more than one million people directly benefit from ISU Extension and Outreach education. With offices in all 99 counties, Iowa State anticipates emerging issues and trends, educates in catalytic ways, creates opportunities, builds relationships throughout the state, and turns the world over to the next generation better than we found it.
