Feature Story - Police Department Auxiliary Meeting on Saturday, March 9:
You are invited! The Police Department is hosting a public informational meeting about the Auxiliary program on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Village Hall Board Room/Courtroom. Please RSVP by email  Sgt. Straub.

What's going on at the Public Meeting? The meeting on March 9 will have an introduction and tour (of the station and police squads), information/expectations of Auxiliaries, some legal information, uniform policy for the Auxiliaries, information on the ride along program, and a rundown on the yearly Auxiliary activities. This first meeting will also include training on traffic stops, high risk stops, and induce to stop methods like stop sticks.

What's an Auxiliary Officer? Auxiliaries are non-sworn volunteers that help the Police Department throughout the year. They help with parades, races, or special events that happen in the community. Four times a year, the Police Department holds training nights for the Auxiliaries. They also help with municipal court proceedings and can do police ride-alongs. During ride-alongs, Auxiliaries patrol the Village with Police Officers and get a front row seat on how law enforcement works.

If you are interested in helping your community and the Whitefish Bay Police Department as an Auxiliary Officer, please email  Sgt. Straub or call 414-962-3830.
Reminders from Public Works:
Snow Storm Cart Placement:

Friendly reminder! Please utilize your driveway apron or clear a portion of the parkway for cart placement. Snow and ice must be cleared around the cart(s) as well as the lid.

Please do not place your refuse and recycling carts in the street. Thank you for your cooperation during the winter weather.
Fire Hydrant Snow Removal

As the snow piles up, help the Fire Department by adopting the fire hydrant closest to your home or business and keep it free of snow during the winter.

If a fire hydrant is buried by snow, it is difficult to find and valuable time must be spent digging it out. Keep snow clear in a 3-foot radius around the fire hydrant and shovel a path from the street or roadway up to the hydrant. This will help the Fire Department in the event of an emergency

News from the Health Department:

Did you know? Current e-cigarette use, also known as vaping and Juuling, increased considerably among U.S. middle and high school students during 2017–2018. According to the most recent information from the National Youth Tobacco Survey, vaping among high school students nearly doubled from 12% in 2017 to 21% in 2018.

Wisconsin State Statute makes it illegal for retailers to sell e-cigarettes with nicotine to anyone under the age of 18 years old. It is also illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to purchase or possess e-cigarettes with nicotine. While Wisconsin has a Clean Indoor Air law which bans smoking in all enclosed workplaces, including bars and restaurants, e-cigarette use/vaping is exempt from this law. Some local governments, including Milwaukee, have passed laws prohibiting e-cigarette use in enclosed workplaces.
