July, 2014 Dear PACC Members and Friends,
As the Holiday Weekend is upon us, we wish you a safe and happy 4th of July!
For the PACC, the first part of last month was dominated by Poland-related programs. First, on June 7, we were pleased to welcome representatives of the Poland-based Union of Producers and Employers of the Meat Industry (UPEMI) to Chicago. We hope the PACC office visit and the country club lunch hosted by PACC VP Tom Startek helped the Polish visitors acclimate, and prepare for the promotional events during their visit.

On June 17, the luncheon session we hosted at Chicago's Standard Club featured Mariusz Haladyj, Deputy Minister and Undersecretary of State in Poland's Ministry of Economy. It also included a most engaging discussion by a panel of Polish and American experts on the subject of Effecting Economic Growth and Business Development Through Sound Regulatory Policy-Making. We thank Miller Canfield for their presenting sponsorship, the Consulate General of Poland in Chicago for their support, and all those who participated.
After hours, on June 17, we had a great time networking at Star-Tech Glass, Inc.
And, on June 25, PACC VP Tom Startek joined several other immigrant entrepreneurs and aldermen to speak at Chicago's City Hall on the occasion of the City Council's unanimous passage of the resolution recognizing June as Immigrant Heritage Month.
On the last day of June, we enjoyed the hour-long discussion with gubernatorial candidate, Bruce Rauner, who gave cogent answers to pointed questions on issues that were important to the PACC and others in attendance. Topics focused on economy and business at the state and national levels, and in relation to Poland and the EU.
