Spotlight on Mark D. Toppen
|
|
Mark Toppen is from St. Louis, Missouri, but having been raised by two parents from Chicago, he quickly became an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears, and Gino’s East deep-dish pizza. After high school, he started college at the University of Missouri, joining his older sister and several of his friends from his hometown. However, Mark soon got the itch to branch out, and after his sophomore year, he transferred to Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
While at Auburn, Mark learned to appreciate all that southern hospitality had to offer, including southern cooking, sweet tea, and of course, SEC football – War Eagle. Mark graduated from Auburn in 2011,
magna cum laude, with a BA in political science. During his senior year, Mark met his now wife, Allison, and in 2012, they decided to move to Colorado to pursue their shared love of the outdoors.
While in Colorado Springs, Mark worked in marketing for an international non-profit for three years, and spent some time working with its in-house counsel. It was then that he decided to fulfill a life-long dream and begin law school.
While in law school at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, Mark clerked for a county attorney’s office, an oil and gas company, the Denver District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI Field Office in Denver. Through these diverse experiences, he learned that he wanted to pursue a practice in civil litigation and is very excited to join Pollart Miller’s workers’ compensation defense team.
