We're answering your commonly asked questions!
What is eating the leaves on my oak tree?
Orangestriped oakworms, black caterpillars with orange stripes, eat leaves, but don't harm trees. Since they don't cause much or permanent damage, you don't need to apply any treatment.
How often should I mow my lawn?
Mow once per week, removing no more than one-third of the grass blade height and leaving clippings on the lawn to decompose.
How can I prevent and reduce lawn weeds?
Apply pre-emergent herbicide in September.
What can I plant in the fall?
Plant or transplant beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, collards, kale, lettuce, mustard, onions, radishes, spinach, and turnips between September and October.
Plant shrubs and trees anytime during the fall. Although the foliage will not grow much in the winter, the roots will, helping the plant better withstand the hot and dry summer weather.
