February 6, 2020
At the Monday, February 3 Pontiac City Council Meeting, Mayor Bill Alvey proclaimed that the week of March 1-7, 2020 will be 'Spread the Word - Inclusion' Respect Week in Pontiac. The proclamation was followed by a vote from the City Council to approve the parade permit for the annual Peers in Action Parade Saturday, April 18, 2020. Pictured are members of the Peers in Action group in attendance at Monday's meeting with Mayor Alvey and a framed copy of the proclamaition.
Moments before their wedding rehearsal goes awry, Addison Ashe (Brittany Roper) and Jamie Wilcox (Gabriel Montello) are just another happy couple preparing to spend the rest of their lives together. Or are they...?

Sales Tax Referendum

The Pontiac City Council recognizes that the City is in need of a major street improvement program. The City receives $500,000 (up from $300,000) in State of Illinois Motor Fuel Tax Fund. In order to fund these necessary improvements, the Council is presenting a referendum to authorize a 1% sales tax increase.

The following are facts concerning the increase:
• The tax does not apply to groceries, prescriptions, or titled vehicles.
• The tax would have generated nearly $1.4 million annually.
• It is estimated that over 75% of the tax would be paid by non-Pontiac residents.
• The tax increase vote on March 17th, 2020 would allow the City to nearly triple the street improvements annually.
County Wide Electronic Recycling

The City of Fairbury will be hosting a county-wide electronics recycling drive on Saturday, April 18th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Street Department, 107 S Jackson Street, Fairbury. No appliances will be accepted.
Snow Routes and Snow Removal
Snow Routes:
If you reside on a posted snow route, please remember that parking restrictions automatically go into effect after two inches of snowfall. Parking is not allowed on these streets until the storm passes and the street is plowed.

Don’t Crowd the Plow
A snow plow operator’s field of vision is restricted. You may see them but they often may not see you. Please give these trucks plenty of space to do their job. A safe practice is to keep a distance of fifty feet between you and a moving snowplow.

Check out our snow policy
Our complete snow policy is available here . In it you will find our detailed policy with all the information you need to know about our snow plowing operations.
