Fire Hydrant Testing
From Fire Chief Scott Runyon: The Pontiac Fire Department will be testing fire hydrants throughout the summer and into this fall. Testing ensures that all hydrants are functioning properly and also determines the flow rate of each hydrant.

Residents might notice a slight color change to their tap water while the hydrant is being flushed. Should this occur, let the water run until it appears clear again.

We ask all drivers to be alert and approach and pass emergency vehicles and personnel slowly and with caution.
Mayor Russell Announces Retirement
At the Monday, July 1 City Council Meeting, Mayor Bob Russell announced his retirement effective July 31, 2019. In a statement at the end of the meeting he said: "Having served as mayor of the City of Pontiac for the past 10 plus years has been an unbelievably wonderful experience that I will never forget. We wish nothing but the best to Mayor Bob and thank him for his nearly thirty years of public service to Pontiac and his dedication to making our community thrive.

Don't miss out - two more chances to Rock at the River!

July 11: Sun Beard is a rootsy and rockin collection of Chicago artists from bands we all know and love in the local and regional club and festival scene. With a focus on songwriting influenced by the likes of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Wilco and more, the songs set the scene for pedal to the floor guitar solos and extended grooves. Sun Beard features members of Old Shoe, Family Groove Company, Cornmeal, and Backyard Tire Fire.
Casey McGrath will open the night with FiddleRock! her take on songs you love but with just her violin.

July 25: ANIMAL FARM is a Chicago-based quartet of musicians and educators whose lively performances entertain and engage children of all ages. Our stage show is a colorful blend of music, storytelling, hilarious antics and audience participation. Animal Farm’s songs explore themes of friendship, community and self-expression through the eyes of our furry, feathered, scaly and shell-dwelling friends. Adults will enjoy the smart and perceptive lyrics. Kids will relate to the challenges and triumphs faced by the hilarious cast of characters. And everyone will love the fun and upbeat music!

Activites start at the Band Shell at 5:00, opening acts begin at 5:30, and headline acts are from 7:00-9:00. We hope to see you there!
