A message from Bill Alvey, Mayor, City of Pontiac
We are facing unprecedented times. Our city government is working behind the scenes to help and support the citizens and local business owners during these trying times. Please visit
for information on the following:
• Facility closures and other important information
• School closures
• Business resources
• Information on COVID-19, including links to local, state, and federal sites
• An up-to-date restaurant guide of openings, contact information, and more.
We also send e-newsletters to our citizens and have recently launched an e-newsletter campaign for business, restaurant, and bar owners to help push relevant information as we receive it. If you would like to be added to either of these lists,
please send an email and ask to be added.
It is times like these that make us realize what a truly great community we live in! I would first like to send a thank you to our first responders, health care professionals, and medical personnel who are working tirelessly to keep our community safe and healthy. Next, I would like to thank our retail stores and their employees who have worked to keep the shelves stocked with essentials that our community needs. To our restaurant owners and employees who are working through these extenuating circumstances, thank you. I want each and everyone of you who is still working to provide vital services to our citizens to know that all of your hard work has not gone unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Thank you. And finally, I would like to thank our citizens for heeding the calls to stay home and socially distance to help mitigate the spread of this virus, especially when feeling sick. Keep checking on your neighbors. Keep supporting your local businesses, either by shopping there (physically if needed or able, or online), ordering take out or delivery, or buying a gift card to use at a later time.
The citizens of Pontiac have proved their resilience over adversity many times in the past and I believe that we will do that yet again.
If there is anything we can do to assist you at this time, please call city hall at 815-844-3396
or email us
and we will help find or direct you toward the information you are looking for.
We are all in this together!
