Meet the City of Pontiac Department Heads
It takes a lot of talented and dedicated people to keep the city going. Every newsletter we'll be introducing two new department heads - learn about them and what their departments do to keep the city running smoothly!
Ellie Alexander
What did you want to be when you grew up? A mommy! I have always loved children and have been blessed with 5 of them!

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Chocolate - wait, you meant a meal.... Thanksgiving Dinner.

Favorite thing to do in Pontiac? Meet and speak with visitors from around the world.

How long have you lived in Pontiac? 15 years.

What else would you like people to know about you?
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. My favorite place to be is the beach. Doing both together is a blessing.

FAQs or misconceptions about your department?
That the Tourism Department only cares about the tourists. It's not at all the case. We also live here and being a resident we all enjoy to the economic benefits that tourists bring to our community.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Elementary Teacher or Librarian

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tacos or any Mexican food

Favorite thing to do in Pontiac? I love seeing the summer plays put on by Vermillion Players. I also like the parades and watching the Pontiac High School Band.

How long have you lived in Pontiac? I grew up in Pontiac and graduated High School here in 1997. My husband, son, and I moved back in 2016 when I became Library Director.

What else would you like people to know about you? I am pursuing my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science. I feel honored to serve Pontiac as Library Director.

FAQs or misconceptions about your department? There is something for everyone at the library! Library cards are free for anyone residing within Pontiac City Limits. Annually the library hosts over 500 free programs. A library card is not required to attend any of these programs.
British Invasion at the Eagle!
The Eagle Performing Arts and Conference Center is kicking off their Fall Season with a one night only night of fun. Chicago’s premiere acoustic Beatles Tribute Band, Kaleidoscope Eyes, will be live and in concert October 5. They are self-described as “huge Beatles fans who strive to capture the magic of the songwriting, harmonies and silliness of the Beatles. We love to celebrate the music and memories of the Beatles with a lotta help from our friends!”
