Pontiac Community Heart and Soul Value Statement Event
The Pontiac Community Heart & Soul Team has devised six statements to reflect the collective values of our citizens. These statements will be debuted and reviewed by the public at The Eagle Theater, 319 N. Plum St. in downtown Pontiac on November 5 th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Citizens are invited to attend and give their input; however, the team does request an RSVP to ensure enough seating, supplies and refreshments.  Please email or call (or text) 815-419-7015 to let the team know that you will be attending.

These value statements were drafted by members of the team using data collected from over a dozen events attended by over 230 people as well as the individual stories of over 50 citizens collected at 5 different locations. These value statements reflect our collective view on Community Engagement, Economy, Parks & Recreation, Safety & Health, Communication, and Transportation. Once these value statements are confirmed by the public, goals that are aligned with these value statements will be set. Public input is vital and encouraged during this, and all phases, of this project.

Created by the Orton Family Foundation, the Community Heart & Soul approach is founded on three basic principles: Involve Everyone, Focus on What Matters, and Play the Long Game. The Pontiac Community Heart & Soul Team is comprised of citizen volunteers with the support of city staff. The project officially began on December 18 th , 2017 with a resolution approved by Pontiac City Council. The project aims to develop a comprehensive plan for the city based on the collective voice of its citizens.
