Meet the City of Pontiac Department Heads
It takes a lot of talented and dedicated people to keep the city going. Every newsletter we'll be introducing two new department heads - learn about them and what their departments do to keep the city running smoothly!

What did you want to be when you grew up? The plan after high school was to go into the printing industry.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? My mom's meat loaf - the best!

Favorite thing to do in Pontiac? Spend time with my family and go to my son's ball games.

How long have you lived in Pontiac? My family moved here when I was a year old - so all my life.


FAQs or misconceptions about your department? Not only do we take care of streets, we also maintain all city buildings and parks.

What did you want to be when you grew up? P.E. Teacher or Athletic Director for a high school

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Bernardi's Lunch Buffet

Favorite thing to do in Pontiac? Go to the parks with my wife and daughter!

How long have you lived in Pontiac? 4 years

What else would you like people to know about you? I have an amazing family and I love serving the citizens of Pontiac. Life is good!

FAQs or misconceptions about your department? The Rec Center and all of the parks are tied into one department, the Parks and Rec Department.
Shop Late til 8!
Join the Downtown Business Association for a night on the town of fun and shopping! Many of the downtown businesses are staying open late - until 8PM on Thursday, September 19. In addition to staying open late, many have special promotions happening as well. As an added bonus, Pontiac's Jolly Trolley will be running a special shopping loop! Customers can shop the Square, hop on the trolley, hop off at Ace Hardware (203 E. Livingston St.), Pops (517 W. Howard St.), or True Essence (725 W. Madison St.). Everyone can enjoy special sales at all businesses and catch the trolley back and forth. Trolley Pick-up will be at the Courthouse side of Madison Street and it will run from 4:30-7:30PM. Valet shopping at its BEST!!!   
GTOAA Cruise and Show
An annual favorite, head to the downtown square Sunday, September 22 from 10:00-2:00 to see gorgeous Pontiacs of all makes and models! The All Pontiac Cruise and Show will have these classic cars all over town that whole weekend - but they'll be congregated on the square specifically for people to view on Sunday. Sunday at 3:00 will be the award show with prizes being awarded to the top cars in several categories. We'll see you there! For more information, head to the GTO Association of America's website.
Family Feud
Join Pontiac Parks and Recreation for a night full of laughs as families battle it out Family Feud-style! Survey questions will include questions about living in Pontiac, IL. Doors open at 7:00pm and the game will begin at 7:30. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

$25 / FAMILY OF 5 TO PLAY
$1 / PERSON TO WATCH

The family with the most points at the end of the night will receive a gift card basket valued at over $50! Players should be at least 16 years old. To register your family, stop into the Rec Center at 900 N. Elm Street or call us at 815-844-6818.

Registration deadline is Saturday, September 21st for families interested in competing.
