PopUp Social Invitation

Friday, May 17, 5:30pm – 7:30pm

The Greek Isles Restaurant

200 N. Halstead Street, Chicago

Drop in or stay for the whole time!

What It’s All About?

This pop-up gathering is part of our efforts to restart our flagship branch in Chicago, back where everything began for WILPF. We’ve been hosting a number of zoom events to build interest in joining the restarted Chicago WILPF Branch. (Our latest zoom event recording is available here.) We are gratified at the support we’ve received from individuals and organizations surrounding Hull House – in Chicago and beyond. They are enthusiastic about having WILPF active again locally.

We want a diverse and energized branch of committed progressive women (and men) ready to make a difference in their city by advancing a feminist view of peace and equity. We envision a branch whose leaders will compellingly translate WILPF US mission and values into projects and actions that can make a difference on the ground in a non-partisan way. We’re all in this together!

We’re inviting you!

All the names and faces we’ve been ‘talking with’ virtually, for nearly a year, we hope you’ll come meet us in person! Marybeth Gardam from the Chicago Restart Team will be available to facilitate conversation about the branch, field questions and explore next steps.

That’s on Friday, May 17 at 5:30 pm at the Greek Isles Restaurant (200 N Halsted Street, Chicago). It’s all ‘Dutch Treat’, because we can’t predict exactly how many people will show up. Purchase a soda, wine or beer, or stay for dinner. We’ll bring name tags and hope to share stories from your own Chicago organizing and activism.

If you can make it, we appreciate it if you can let us know in advance that you’re coming. Contact me here for more information or to RSVP. Or you can call me at 863-651-4888. Or just show up!

This pop-up social gathering can be both fun and a great opportunity to meet with progressive leaders as we get ready to kick off our restarted Chicago Branch of Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom.

Please stop by – for a drink or stay for dinner!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
