A New Home for Newton Out Doors's Por Por
We are happy to report that “Por Por", a piece of our Newton Out Doors public art project that was vandalized now has a new home at City Hall with a sign describing artist Amanda Beard Garcia's inspiration to honor her grandmother. We are pleased this piece has been so warmly received at City Hall for a wide audience to see.
Summer Concert this Sunday, August 22, 6pm
Don’t miss the City of Newton’s final concert in the annual Summer Concert Series. Enjoy these last few days of summer outside at the Newton Centre Bowl with an entertaining live performance from The Daybreakers.

Fueled by two songwriters with contrasting approaches, The DayBreakers are a blend of folk rock melodies, blues guitar muscle and rock and roll grit.

New Art Center Survey
The New Art Center is working on an exciting fall initiative of retail space called "Artists’ Collective at New Art" on the second floor of Trio in Newtonville.
This space will give artists the opportunity to show and sell their creative work.
Please take a moment to fill out the surveys below to help guide the New Art Center in working out the details of this community project. If you are an artist, please fill out both.
For artists, it provides an opportunity to "work" some hours on behalf of the organization and receive a healthy commission for the sale of work. For consumers, this is a way to shop for unique pieces of arts and crafts.
Volunteer & Donor Spotlight: Mark Jurilla
Hi my name is Mark Jurilla and I am a volunteer Board Member for Newton Community Pride. I’ve been involved in community banking and lending since moving to Newton in 2006. I wanted to connect with my community both professionally and personally in a more significant way and volunteering with NCP was the right fit. I served on the NCP Board once before from 2007-2012 and can appreciate how much NCP has grown this past year.  It’s an exciting time to be part of NCP as it expands its non profit mission into public art, as well as continue it’s support for community arts and culture programming, beautification and service.

As a young father of three, my wife Jillian and I appreciated & enjoyed the last few months of events that NCP financially supported like the Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts, the July 4th celebration and the summer concerts in Newton Centre.  In appreciation for the smiles on my kid’s faces and NCP’s year round programming, my wife and I subscribe to a monthly donation program that works well for our philanthropic giving and shows in a small way our Newton community pride.
Mark Jurilla and family: Mark, Ethan (4), Owen (9), Olivia (9) and wife Jillian.
