Hello Members,
Summer always seems to pass so quickly, and with July almost done we’re already looking ahead to fall events. Not that the summer in Port Jefferson hasn’t been busy. Despite some rough weather that moved the band inside, the Chamber’s annual Sounds on the Sound event on June 14 was a success! We welcomed new business The Wellness Stop with a ribbon-cutting on June 27.
The Chamber was well represented at the Port Jefferson Fire Department’s annual Fourth of July Parade. We joined the Three Village, Smithtown, and Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chambers of Commerce for a Quad-Chamber evening of networking at the Stonebridge Country Club in Smithtown on July 9, and the next day held a ribbon cutting for Tea Brew.
On Aug. 8, we’ll host our annual new member soiree at the Chamber office from 5:30-8pm. Stop by and welcome our newest chamber partners! Then, join us as we head down Rt. 112 to Patchogue for our annual get together with the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, this year at RHUM: Island Inspired Cuisine & Rum Bar.
September will see the dragons roar once again for the 10th annual Dragon Boat Race Festival at Harbor Front Park on Saturday, Sept. 14. Stop down to watch the races and enjoy Asian music, dance, martial arts and food. Get a sneak peek at what’s to come with our Press Release for this momentous event! And planning is under way for our annual Harvest Fest and Chowder Crawl October 19-20.

Our Annual Sounds on the Sound was on June 14th featuring the Amber Ferrari Band! The rain didn’t stop our event and we had it inside the main cabin of the Ferry – everyone had a great time! Special thanks to our sponsors – M&T Bank and SERVPRO Port Jefferson – and The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company.
- We hosted with the PJ Civics, Meet the Candidate Night for the PJV Trustee Race at the Port Jefferson Village Center. Congratulations to newly elected Kyle Hill and Xena Ugrinsky. We thank all the candidates for well-done campaigns. Looking forward for their participation in Port Jeff Village government!

Spectators lined Main Street for the July 4th Parade! It was a beautiful day for the parade featuring local fire departments, community and civic groups. The Chamber’s procession included our contracted brass band, a batmobile, The Gitto Group’s ‘Uncle Sam’ float, storybook characters, a 1-Adam-12 car and more!!
- We welcomed two new members and business to our Village with Ribbon Cutting Events – Tea Brew & The Wellness Stop!

On June 11th, we joined The Fox & Owl in to celebrate their 10th Anniversary with a Ribbon Cutting and certificate!

We had a great Quad-Chamber Networking event on July 9th at the Stonebridge Country Club in Hauppauge! This event included our Chamber, the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce, and Three Village Chamber of Commerce. Over 100 attendees with great networking, the venue was excellent and we thank the Smithtown Chamber for hosting us this year. We also welcomed the inclusion of the PJS/TV Chamber!
- PSEG approved our 8 applications for their grant program. Money was to be spent for outdoor commerce and beautification. Congratulations to the following Chamber Partners: Port Jeff BID, Nantuckets, Amazing Olive, Theatre Three, Century 21 Icon, Long Island Explorium, Kilwins, and Port Jefferson Village.

The new Port Jefferson Bridgeport Ferry Administration Offices are getting ready to be opened soon, located right next store to the Chamber building. Housing multiple services for the ferry to include; HR, accounting, technology, conference room and a satellite office for SC Marine Bureau, all ADA compliant. The New England style architect is attractive and compliments our downtown business community.

On May 31st, the Port Jefferson Free Library had their Grand Opening of their ‘Park at 114’. A new pocket park right next to the main library building. Much fanfare was presented at the opening, that included 2 llamas, Gerald & Piggy characters and refreshments, congratulations!!

Sunrise Senior Living of East Setauket held a special Speakeasy Event to celebrate their Grand Re-Opening on June 20th. They updated their look with new furniture and interior designs. The new ‘speak easy’ room will host small events with a built-in bar and TV Screens. Wonderful food displays of a charcuterie buffet, dessert bar and hot and cold dishes were present. Live music and a black jack table added to the festivities! Congratulations to their staff and Michael Christian their Executive Director, well done!

Welcome the new Reverend Emily Kaye Fowler at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jefferson. She was installed as their new Pastor June 2nd that followed a reception at the Belle Terre Community Center. Congratulations to the church and our community!

The Port Jefferson Retailers Association, in coordination with our Chamber and the Greater Port Jefferson-Northern Brookhaven Arts Council, have launched a new program – Music Throughout The Village Port Jefferson.
