June 11, 2013, the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority (HMCAA)  passed a resolution that included a new incentive program totaling $6 million for air service and customer service standards. This new program is part of the FY14 strategic plan and budget and addresses community concerns about airline service at Huntsville International Airport (HSV).
Airlines participating in the new incentive program can lower their operating costs at HSV by as much as 45 percent. This average cost would be the lowest in more than 20 years, and is significantly lower than the budgeted FY13 cost of $11.64. Read the full news release.

Industry Expert Bill Swelbar Addresses Business Community
Huntsville International Airport (HSV) and the Chamber of Commerce Huntsville/Madison County brought in Bill Swelbar May 30 to address business leaders on topics surrounding airline service in small communities. Swelbar is an air travel expert and research engineer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with more than 25 years experience in the industry. He recently published a study on small communities and airports, featured in the Wall Street Journal, and shared research findings and industry trends with a crowd of 50 over breakfast at the Chamber. 
While in town Swelbar sat down with Huntsville Times business reporter, Lucy Berry, and answered questions often asked by the Huntsville passenger. Read the story here.   

Huntsville International Airport (HSV) now accepting electronic boarding passes
Get Out Your Smart Phone - Electronic Boarding Passes Now Accepted
Electronic boarding passes are now accepted by all airline carriers as well as at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening checkpoint at Huntsville International Airport (HSV). This technology allows passengers to check in with their smart phones, eliminating the need for paper tickets.

We've Got a New Website Design    


Check out the Port of Huntsville's new website! While the address remains the same, the entire site got a facelift along with additional content to increase functionality and convenience for its customers.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Open for Business at HSV


Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America's largest rental car brand, held a grand opening April 4 for its newest location at Huntsville International Airport (HSV). Previously located off site, this marks Enterprise's first time to offer service on location at HSV.


Port of Huntsville Employees Walk to Make a Difference in Relay for Life
May 17, Port of Huntsville employees along with Delta's HSV staff participated as the "Wings of  Hope" team in the Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society (ACS). The team exceeded its goal to raise $1,000 for the charity and through sponsorships, luminaries, and "swag bag" give-aways, presented ACS with $1,239.
