Tucker Receives NAITA International Trade Advocate Award

The North Alabama International Trade Association (NAITA) today awarded the 2013 International Trade Advocate Award to Rick Tucker, Executive Director of the Port of Huntsville and the Huntsville/Madison County Airport Authority. The NAITA International Trade Advocate Award honors and recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly to the advancement of international trade in general and the vision and mission of NAITA in particular.

HSV Addresses Recent Ranking
for Air Fares
Huntsville International Airport (HSV) recently released a
white paper addressing concerns from the latest airefare ranking from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
In addition, HSV launched an online petition to gather community feedback and support for the airport's ability to negotiate fares with the airlines. The petition is ongoing and we still need your support, so please take a moment to sign it today.
Air service development is vital for our community and HSV places great emphasis on attracting new air service from existing and new carriers. We are aware of differences in pricing and work constantly with our carriers to try to lower fares and attract low-fare service to our market. Thank you for your continues support of this airport and our efforts!

Jetplex Industrial Park Welcomes

Two New Tenants
Barksdale Dental Lab and a packaging facility/warehouse space for Georgia-Pacific are the newest tenants to join the Jetplex Industrial Park. Barksdale Dental Lab is a full-service lab serving dentists all over the Southeast. The Huntsville Times recently did an article on the company and its move to the park.
Georgia-Pacific is one of the world's leading manufacturers of tissue, packaging, paper, pulp, building products and related chemicals. The Huntsville location is a warehouse space for corrugated containers and boxes. 

Q&A With Director of Operations, Kevin Vandeberg

"Huntsville International Airport is like its own little city - which brings an exciting challenge for me every single day," said Kevin Vandeberg, the director of operations at Huntsville International Airport (HSV).

Vandeberg recently sat down to share his thoughts on operations at the airport and why he is passionate about his job. He originally came to work for HSV after graduating from Auburn University with a degree in aviation management. He completed an internship with the airport for three summers and then joined the staff in 1991. After a five year stint with Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon from 2007 to 2012, Vandeberg returned to HSV in his current position as director of operations.

Port of Huntsville Employees Kick Off New Community Service Program 
The Arc of Madison County's Civitans Opportunity Center
recently received a face lift thanks to approximately 30 employees from the Port of Huntsville. Employees came together on a Saturday to paint interior walls for the Arc. This initiative is part of the Port's wellness program, which was recently expanded to include community service.
