Sanford Health donates record $1 million to Great Plains Food Bank
It was a historic day for the Great Plains Food Bank October 16 when representatives from Sanford Health entered our warehouse to present a check for $1 million. It is the single largest donation in the 38-year history of the Great Plains Food Bank.

The gift is part of an unprecedented $3 million given to food banks in the region by Sanford Health to bolster an increase in need for food assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically, the Great Plains Food Bank will quickly put the dollars to use now through the end of June by increasing our efforts in food acquisition and distribution, the purchasing of an additional semi-trailer, expansion of our BackPack Program and establishing new locations for our Wellness Pantry Program.

Also making recent generous gifts to the Great Plains Food Bank were: Hope Lutheran Church ($35,000); Feeding America ($31,390.12); KLJ Engineering LLC ($10,000); CNH Industrial America LLC ($5,000); Cass County Electric Cooperative ($5,000); Wells Fargo Foundation ($5,000).

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: Mobile Food Pantry creates bond between neighbors
Through a number of different circumstances, neighbors Phyllis Bauer and Dennis Hickman have formed a bond.

A part of that friendship includes traveling together to the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry when it stops in Milnor. The food they are able to receive there lasts each of them a month and has helped Phyllis fill a void after her husband passed away last year.
