Let\'s Vote!

We'll be having another of our fantastic voting parties coming up soon - there's info below to help you learn about some of the issues and make sure you're registered to vote.

Join a conversation about the 2022 Oregon election. There are a slew of exciting and competitive races along with a variety of ballot measures. Don't know who or what to vote for? Want to chat about pros and cons? Or just need an easy explanation of suggested people/ballot measures to vote for?
Come join us for our lively *virtual* Voting Party!

Zoom Link:

Anyone is welcome, but please note that this is focused on races that are in SE/NE Portland (Governor, Labor, MultCo Chair, Portland City Council, then local/county/metro ballot measures)

Please make sure to bring: 1) Your ballot. 2) A pen. 3) The beverage or dinner of your choice. 4) Any input you have on the races.

If you have an opinion to share, there will be a chance to express why you're voting a certain way and depending on the item we may have a bit of a conversation albeit brief so we can get through the whole ballot.

Please do try to be online at or a bit *before 7pm* if possible. Our intent is to get started just after 7pm. (We understand some folks may need to join in later and need to jump in and out while being at home.). Feel free to invite a friend to join us. The more the merrier.

My friend, Carlton, could use all of our help right now. He's been an active part of photographing all of the music festivals I attend and makes beautiful art like this.
Please contribute to this GoFundMe for Carlton Ward

This is Carlton and I have started radiation/chemo treatments for Squamous Cell Carcinoma I have in my throat. I am just recovering from Triple Bypass surgery I had last October 2021 (which I am still paying...

I still have a large collection of these signs on my porch. Please come over and get yours (also posters) @ 2250 SE 44th Ave. "You get the government you work for" - Albert Kaufman :)

Here are some of the benefits of this change we'll vote for in November. Click here. We're voting to switch to ranked choice voting, for starters!

I try to make changes in Portland - it's just about impossible with our current form of government. This reform is going to help move things forward in a place that shouldn't be this stuck. At the very least, please vote for it. Better: learn about it and get good at explaining it.

Tina Kotek is the Democrat running for Oregon governor this Fall. She is in a tight race. Please consider donating to her campaign or working on the campaign. She is by far the best candidate running and Oregon is lucky to have her. Let's make sure she wins.

The last day to register to vote in Oregon is October 18th. Are you registered? Is everyone you know registered? If you live in another state here's how to learn when the last day to register is and to help get others registered. Roevember is coming - let's get busy and register everyone we can! https://vote.gov/ - feel free to share this message on your socials!

There are a number of congressional races in Oregon and SW Washington that are winnable - let's win them and keep the US House in Democrat's hands. Kevin McCarthy (R) and the MAGA world should not have any hands on any levers of power - they are fascists and need to be shown the door this November and beyond. I believe that's what's coming, but only you can prevent forest fires, as they say.

Tina Kotek our next Governor of Oregon!
My friend Steve mentioned to me that he has donated to a number of campaigns because he wants to support Democrats and also feel a closer connection to them. I encourage you to do the same. Find a race or a bunch of races to donate to. Here's a good way to go - an organization called Swing Left is funneling donations into key down-ballot races.

Enjoy the Day, and please take one or more of the actions I outlined above. You can also share this whole shebang with the social buttons at the top. Thanks!
