Honoring PVSD Volunteers - Nominations Due by Friday 3/3

Honoring PVSD Volunteers - Accepting Nominations Now
Founder's Day is a biennial, PTO-sponsored award ceremony honoring those who have gone above and beyond in volunteering for the Portola Valley School District. We typically honor the parent volunteers who are in their last years with the school district because of graduating children (7th and 8th grade parents or those leaving PVSD earlier for other reasons). This is a wonderful event to celebrate some of the parent volunteers that make our school district truly special. This year the ceremony will be on Tuesday, April 18th.
We are now accepting nominations for individuals you think should be honored. Individuals who left the school district last year are eligible as we celebrate Founder's Day every other year. Please submit your nominations in writing or email, citing reasons your nominee should receive a PTO Honorary Service Award, to CMS PTO President, Shannon Basch at [email protected]. Or, you may also drop a note into either ORM or CMS PTO boxes.
The deadline for nominations is Friday March 3rd. Should you have any questions, please email. Thank you so much for taking the time to nominate!

Kindergarten with NO LUNCH SUPERVISION
|
|
The Kindergarten class starts full days this
Monday, February 27th
. Multiple requests for lunchtime parent volunteers has resulted in only a single parent volunteering for Mondays. This means there are no parent lunch volunteers for Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. If you have a child in Kindergarten, please consider helping out. We need 1 to 2 parent volunteers helping out with lunchtime from
12:00 to 12:50pm
on
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. This is a great way to help out at school and to check-in with your child during the school day.
Please sing up HERE
to volunteer
or contact
Jennifer Gamel at
[email protected].

Thank you 3rd Grade Parents - Super Staff Lunch
|
|
The Third Grade Parents came together to serve the Ormondale Staff a delicious lunch the Wednesday before Winter Break. Many thanks to all of our volunteers. The staff, as always, were so thrilled to have a special lunch and enjoyed the chance to sit down together and relax over a bountiful table.
We are so thankful to all of the parents who gave their time, whether it was to help with carpool, set up, clean up or contribute food and drink to this event. Some of us are finishing at Ormondale this year, so it was even more meaningful for us to be able to show our gratitude to our amazing staff in this manner.
Thank you to Brook Day and these Third Grade parents for all of your help: Ali Cooper, Susan McLaughlin, Heidi Richards, Sharon Shaffer, Caroline Diarte-Edwards, Matt Hall, Ysabel Jou, Wendy McAdam, Eva Diez, Stefanie Trenchard, Simone LaValle, Hayley Leinfelder, Jenni Farrell, Rosa Delgado, Ginny Borelli, Teri Wolf, Marjel Scheuer, Emilia Schor, Rachel Bright, Camilla Eckstein, and

Young Inklings Book Contest - Enter by March 15th
|
|
Take your writing to the next level and submit your story or poem for our 9th annual Inklings Book! Enter by March 15th!
The Society of Young Inklings, a local non-profit, publishes an annual anthology of the stories and poems of talented young writers, and each year we hold a contest to see whose pieces will be included. We are looking for fresh new voices to publish in our anthology. Your kids could become published authors!
Young writers in grades 1-8 with stories or poems are encouraged to enter the contest. Submissions must be in final draft and students must commit to completing an editing process if their piece is chosen. Pieces that are chosen will go through a traditional revision process similar to how publishing houses get books ready for publication. Young writers will be assigned a mentor to guide them through the process. For submissions that are not chosen, those students will receive a letter that gives some concrete and encouraging feedback.
