Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Kickoff

Hardeeville Junior and Senior High School hosted its first official PBIS event on January 8, 2024. Middle school students attended the PBIS Kickoff, where they were introduced to the goals of the HJSHS PBIS Initiative and the C.A.N.E.S. principles: Commitment, Attitude, Noble, Excellence, and Success. Students then had the opportunity to practice what they learned about PBIS with some individual and team challenges. Students earned their first PBIS rewards as they participated in those challenges.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes daily. PBIS creates schools where all students succeed.

STEM at RSAE

The middle school students at RSAE took advantage of the STEM experiences by using robots to determine force, motion, mass, and acceleration. Students coded robots to simulate a game of miniature golf and basketball. The scholars also used their robots to stack boxes within a given space using the provided parameters. Students had to determine the amount of force to use with the robot to "putt" a ball into the hole. Additionally, students were challenged to use the robot's arm to stack boxes and "shoot" the ball into the basket. Students used their communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills to work as a team and code the robots.
