Dear Archbishop John Carroll High School Parents and Guardians,

Nine students from Archbishop Carroll were among other students participating in an off-campus sports workout. That practice session took place outdoors and was not held at Archbishop Carroll.  The administration of Archbishop John Carroll High School has been notified that one of the other students participating in the workout has tested positive for COVID-19.

Immediately upon receipt of this report, we contacted the Chester County Health Department (CCHD).  The CCHD investigates all suspected or confirmed reports of COVID-19 and helps give guidance to affected individuals and institutions.  COVID-19 investigations include finding close contacts during the contagious period (contract tracing).

The CCHD has recommended that all students present at that practice be tested for COVID-19 and be quarantined for a period of ten days.

We ask that you abide by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to protect your health and those around you:
  • Consistent use of face masks while around individuals who are not part of your immediate family.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.  Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Follow all recommendations provided by the CDC here

If you, or someone in your household, exhibit COVID-19 related symptoms, please notify Archbishop Carroll so that we may track any potential outbreaks within our school community.  All such personal information will be maintained confidentially.  The health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff are our top priority and we will take all possible steps to maintain the well-being of every member of our school community.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Thomas Quintois, Pandemic Team Coordinator, at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Dr. Anchen Schulz, Principal
