Dose of Hope | January 2025

Dear Tracy,

Happy New Year! The start of the year always brings with it a sense of opportunity and chance for a new beginning- exactly what families have at Saranam.

Our resolution is always the same: to end poverty and homelessness for families. In 2025, we have BIG plans to do this.

  • Welcome new families at BOTH of our locations, as we fully occupy our ADC Family Campus.

  • Immerse ourselves in the Westside community, deepening our partnerships and creating new relationships.
  • Continue to be a community leader in conversations about positive solutions for homelessness intervention. Our Executive Director, Tracy Weaver, set the stage with a presentation to the City of Albuquerque City Council in December (see picture right).

  • Build our kids' capacity to learn and heal through quality family and community time, making possible true 2-generational change.

  • Support our families in their goals so they know NOTHING is impossible.

One mother fully embraced the transformation ahead of her as she undertook initial personality assessments last year, saying, "This is who I am now, and this is who I am going to be at the end of this program".

2024 Recap from Saranam: A Year of Community

Our 20th anniversary year was FULL of big milestones. In case you missed it, check out this video celebrating a year of community and a look ahead to what 2025 will hold.

BIG news to start 2025

We received an incredible award in late 2024 that will help make our 2025 goals- and beyond- a reality. Housing New Mexico awarded Saranam $732,939 through their Housing Innovation Program!

The grant will be used for the remainder of our ADC Family Campus, which includes an additional 13 homes, family and community center, offices, classrooms and donation center. All together, the campus will add 23 homes and be a source of continuous assistance for families as they take steps to secure stable homes of their own.

We are so proud to be a part of housing solutions through the state!

The Strength of Belonging

A new year means a fresh design! Welcome to a new section of our newsletter, where we share stories and perspectives from our families and community. The first is from an alumni family, who finally found a place of belonging at Saranam.

Theresa is dedicated mom, a devoted friend and a hard worker. She spent much of her life searching for a place of belonging. At Saranam, she found a community and place to call her own. Belonging has given her confidence in her identity and the strength to face whatever comes next...

Holly Jolly Community Time

We had such a holly jolly time out on the town this holiday season!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Old Town's Enchanted Holiday celebrations and Humble Coffee's Holiday Market. We met some wonderful folks!

Special thanks to Albuquerque Academy's CONNECT group for beautifully wrapping presents in Old Town, to Kei and Molly Textiles for their beautiful gifts, and Nicole Bridges Photography for donating a portion of their Santa photo sessions to support our families.

Working with Families Safely

Is one of your goals this year to get more involved in the community? Here's a good place to start!

We are holding our first volunteer training of 2025 on Saturday, January 11 from 9:00-12:30. If you are interested in working directly with families, this training is for you! We will cover the basics of our program, trauma-informed care and positive healing.
