Yoga and Energy
One change many of us notice as we age, whether we are 33, 54 or 71, is the reduction or fluctuation of our energy levels. And, although our energy levels greatly affect our choices and our days, we rarely reflect on what energy really is and how we can harness it.
Awareness
Most of us weren't taught how to attract, manage and distribute energy. It’s either something we have or don’t have. We know that if we overwork and don't get enough sleep that we will feel depleted, but beyond that, our collective relationship with energy needs improvement.
Depleted. Overstimulated. Positive.
It's valuable to acknowledge three main types of energy. We have sources of energy that create inertia. This includes things like too much sitting and always focusing on what's wrong with the world. This leaves us depleted. There's the type of energy that is overstimulating. This includes things like over exercising and always being on the go. This leaves us on edge. And then there's the almighty positive energy. This is when we feel energized and calm. We go to bed tired, and wake up refreshed. This includes balanced exercise and rest. The more positive energy we have, the more we notice how energy affects us.
The magic of yoga
Becoming attuned to positive energy and learning how to work with it, is the business of yoga. And, the more positive energy we have, the more positive energy we have to share.
Come as you are!
Energized/Tired. Happy/Sad. Content/Angry. Flexible/Stiff.
Let feelings fluctuate, but keep your practice consistent because it's always a good day to increase our levels of positive energy!
