Greetings!
Well this year certainly didn't turn out as I thought it would! The arise of the Delta variant, the persistent opening and closing of borders and changing rules did not attract many to travel. All the bookings that were cancelled in 2020 and re-booked for 2021 were then again moved to 2022! For the few clients that did still travel to France, to Greece, to Ireland etc. we are happy that we helped them navigate through it all so that they were able to enjoy some time abroad.
This holiday is at least better than last since we are not in lockdown mode and with high numbers of vaccinated we are living life relatively normal and looking forward to small holiday gatherings. Some may think that the rise of the new omicron variant has put a pause again on travel, but we believe it will not affect too much as we learn that although more contagious, it appears to be less dangerous. We have to accept there will be variants that appear until more of the world is vaccinated and in the meantime we will continue to follow the science.
WE believe & hope that this Spring will start showing us a different world where the pandemic wanes and more restrictions are lifted. There are many fabulous places that you can travel to right now and into 2022, 2023 and if you will allow us we are going to help you navigate the ins and outs. There are some great deals on River Cruises for 2023 for instance, if you can put down a deposit now and 2023 will be a huge travel year so don't delay!
Although we are known as European/Caribbean travel experts our clients have become quite fascinated with bucket list trips such as adventure trips and have been asking us about Asia, the Galapagos, the Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. So during this year, we have not only pivoted to be able to offer wonderful trips to discover North America, but we can help with many luxurious and diverse trips worldwide. A house boat rental along the Rideau Canal or Great Lakes Cruise? A Canadian Yukon, Arctic Expedition trip or circumnavigation of Newfoundland? A Mississippi River Cruise or Rocky Mountain train voyage? If you are ready to try our services in 2022 and 2023 -we are ready to assist you!
AS for my family, we will be in California in January and hope to also visit the Algarve, Portugal next year. With a big increase of bookings in house, we hope that 2022 will be a year of recovery not only for our business but for the travel industry in general. Important Note for Returning U.S./Canada Passengers:
U.S.: Starting January 26, 2021, all U.S. passengers over the age of 2 years must provide one
of the following before boarding their flight back home:
A negative Covid-19 test result (PCR or Antigen) taken the day prior to travel.
Documentation of having recovered from Covid-19 and approved to travel by a doctor.
Canada: As of January 7, 2021, all Canadian passengers over the age of 5 years must provide
a negative Covid-19 test result (PCR or LAMP) taken within the 72 hours prior. As of Feb 22nd,2021 two covid tests and 14 days quarantine for unvaccinated citizens and essential travellers. As of July 5th vaccinated Cdns are exempt from quarantine. PCR test to be taken upon arrival in Canada -with 1-2 day self-isolation.
