This summer, we're celebrating our member community's unsung heroes
While summer often means fun, festivities, and vacations, many of our members have additionally turned their thoughts ways they can lend a hand to those in need. Below you'll find but a few of our members' inspirational stories demonstrating, once again, why ours is the greatest business community. Our members know that by working together in this season as in all others, our community will thrive for many years to come.
200 BDO Employees and Partners Volunteered at Greater Washington, D.C. Non-Profits
From June 20th – 24th, over 200 BDO employees and partners volunteered at several local non-profits in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, providing hundreds of hours of volunteer work. The firm made an impact on several causes, including animals, homelessness, environment and hunger through organizations such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Women Giving Back, the Capital Area Food Bank, Friends of Homeless Animals, New Hope Housing, Colvin Run Mill Historic Site and Herndon Parks & Recreation. BDO also gives....
ICF’s D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) offices joined forces to hold our 29th charity auction, raising $60,000+ with a theme highlighting the lighter side of our second year of remote work: No Place Like Home. This 100% volunteer-led event involves soliciting internal/external donations, compiling the catalog, and producing a virtual event. During the first 5 months of 2022, ICF and our employees donated $400,000 to important causes. Of that, we gave $85,000 to nonprofits supporting the people of Ukraine...
MCB Cares Partners With the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter
On Saturday, June 25th, MCB team members volunteered at the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter. The group washed the inside of the washing machines and the dryers, checked that all of the water hoses were in working order, pulled weeds from the garden and collected vegetables for dinner. Our volunteers also cleaned and removed the kick marks from the bottom of the doors in the dining and common area and sanitized the tables and swept the floor. On Saturday, June 4th, Prince William County officials and community members joined Kaiser Permanente leaders to celebrate the opening of the long-awaited Harbor Drive Wellness Park, located off Minnieville Road in Lake Ridge, Virginia. Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, it is the first dedicated wellness park in the Occoquan historic district and provides residents with universal fitness equipment accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities.

Capital One Center Hosts Perchfest Benefitting Best Buddies of Northern Virginia & DC and Wolf Trap Animal Rescue
Over 8,000 guests attended Capital One Center’s Perchfest Spring Edition: a two-day festival at The Perch to benefit Best Buddies of Northern Virginia & DC and Wolf Trap Animal Rescue. Transurban Express Lanes Launches New Community Grant Program to Support Northern Virginia Communities
Transurban is launching a new competitive grant program to benefit the local community as part of the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project in Fairfax County. NOVA Veterans Helps Veteran Robert Find Kindness During Turbulent Times
The Northern Virginia Veterans Association focuses on comprehensively supporting our veterans from their most basic needs of food, housing, and healthcare to encouraging engagement in fitness, the arts and recreation. Our mission became all the more apparent when Robert, a Marine Corps Veteran, was in need of transportation to the VA hospital in D.C. for ongoing cancer treatments and later for a matter quite dear to his heart. Robert had been battling liver cancer for several years and received great news on finally becoming a liver transplant candidate. Peraton served as the Presenting Sponsor for the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life (RFL) of Northern Virginia on May 21st. Criterion Systems Gives Back to Women and Families

On June 24th, members of HomeAid Northern Virginia’s Board of Directors brought comfort and joy to Virginia’s tiniest residents when they delivered over 91,000 diapers and 57,000 wipes to 22 local non-profit organizations. The cost of disposable diapers is nearly $1,000 a year per child, which is a considerable expense for families already struggling to make ends meet. This type of donation is critical because diapers and wipes cannot be purchased using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants and Children (WIC)...
