Message to Membership on Reopening  

At 12:00 noon Friday 12 June, the Post 291 restaurant will reopen for limited dining service for Post 291 Family members and their escorted guests. All dining will be on the outside patios. Other than entrance into the restrooms (from the patio), there is no access to the inside of the Main Building, except for Post employees and Post Officers on official business.

The Bar is not open, but alcoholic beverages may be ordered with restaurant meals. The parking lot will also reopen for regular parking by Post 291 Family members.

The health and safety of Post 291 Family members and their guests and Post employees are of paramount importance. Therefore, everyone’s cooperation is essential to maintaining a safe and healthy environment at the Post for all our fellow military veterans and their families and guests and for Post employees.

Post 291 is committed to following all rules and official direction from the State, County, and City for reopening. The following rules, regulations, and operating procedures have been established to ensure compliance.

Members will need to wear a mask at all times at the Post. Don’t have a mask? No problem! Masks are available for purchase at the Ordering Tent for persons who do not have one.
Here is a summary of operations after Post 291 restaurant reopening at 12:00 noon on Friday 12 June.
  • Only the restaurant will be open.
  • Operating hours will be from 12:00 noon until 7:00 pm daily.
  • Drive-through takeout food service will continue to be available — to both members and the public.
  • Parking lot will reopen for member parking.
  • Parking lot gate will be open, but gate concierge will request information from each vehicle entering.
  • Membership card will be required to be shown if parking — including by slip renters going only to their boats.
  • No membership card is needed for drive-through takeout food pickup — but customers must stay in the drive-through lane and not park.
  • The Bar and interior of the Post Main Building remain closed — until further notice of any expanded accessibility.
  • Meetings, events, entertainment, and banquets are not yet allowed at the Post.

Procedures for Dining at the Post    
When entering the Parking Lot for dining on site at the Post:
  1. Will be given handout sheet of rules by gate concierge.
  2. Will be directed to parking space.
  3. Proceed to Ordering Tent (large popup tent with American Legion logo) to request table.
  4. There is a limit of four guests per Legionnaire, Sons of the American Legion, or Auxiliary member.
  5. Wait Staff at Ordering Tent will assign table.
  6. Proceed to assigned table, if it is immediately available.
  7. If table is not immediately available: a) Provide Wait Staff with cellphone number. b) Return to parked vehicle to await call from Wait Staff that table is available.
  8.  When table is available and summoned by Wait Staff: a)   Proceed to Ordering Tent to place food and beverage order. — The only menu is written on the white display board at the Ordering Tent. b) Payment will be required at time of ordering. —Payment with debit or credit cards is strongly requested and recommended instead of cash. c) Proceed to assigned table.— Food order will be delivered to assigned table.
  9. Facemasks / face coverings must be worn by everyone in the party before entering the Post through the gate from parking lot and whenever not seated at assigned table.
  10. Facemasks are available for purchase at the Ordering Tent for persons who do not have one.
  11. Social distancing is required.
  12. Food orders will be delivered to assigned table by a Post employee wearing facemask and gloves.
  13. Beverage orders will need to be picked up by the member at the Bar takeout window on the west side of the Bar.
  14. Additional beverages may be purchased at the Bar takeout window.
  15. Additional seasonings and condiments may be obtained at the Bar takeout window.
Rules
  • Facemasks / face coverings must be worn at all times inside the Post when not seated at assigned table.
  • Except for restrooms, there is no access into the Main Building.
  • Only restroom entrances from the patio are to be used.
  • All dining is outside on the patios.
  • Whenever leaving the assigned table, recovering with facemasks / face coverings is required.
  • Restroom occupancy is limited to three persons at a time.
  • Parties of no more than five persons per table are allowed.
  • All members of a party must be present before entering the Post.
  • Dining service is open seven days a week from 12:00 noon until 7:00 pm. 
  • On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, tables may be occupied for no more than two hours.
  • Alcoholic beverages can only be purchased with an order of a lunch or dinner meal.
Dining Service Operations   
      
  • Table locations are sufficiently separated for social distancing.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are in several locations throughout the outdoor dining area.
  • Restrooms will be sanitized and serviced every half hour.
  • Tables and chairs will be cleaned and sanitized after each use.
  • Food orders will be delivered by Post employee wearing facemask and gloves.
  • Health of all kitchen and other employees on duty will be screened before duty begins each day.
Again, everyone’s cooperation and support are vitally necessary — along with being considerate and extending basic courtesies to fellow Post Family members and Post employees for their health and safety — to keep Post 291 as safe and healthy as possible for all of us as we jointly work our way through this pandemic while continuing to enjoy the many attractive aspects of Post 291.
