June 1, 2023
Summer is almost here! We can’t thank you enough for the support this spring as we partnered to support students. We are so excited to wrap up the year with the Post 8th grade recognition reception on June 14th from 4-6pm and Field day on June 16th from 11:30-1:30pm. The last day of school will be Tuesday June 20th (no school Monday June 19th) and school will release at 11:30.
Behavior Expectations Reminder- Just a reminder that we are continuing to expect school appropriate behavior and clothing attire until the last day of school. We are continuing to see an increase of inappropriate school behavior. For students with behavior referrals (examples: skipping class, leaving campus without permission, refusal to comply with staff directions, classroom disruptions, vandalism, ect). Students with referrals will not be allowed to attend the Post party after school on June 9th or field day activities on the last day of school.
Post is a Cell Phone Free Zone
Post is a cell free zone from arrival on campus-end of the school day. Students are asked to keep their phones silenced in their backpacks at all times during the day. If they need to reach a parent they can ask an adult and check into the office where they can use the office phone or their personal phone with permission. We are not allowing any social media access during the school day on any personal or school device.
Field Day- Field Day is Friday June 16th from 11:30-1:30pm. We are still in need of parent volunteers for field day to make it all happen. For students unable to attend field day, we will have an alternative supervised work space. Please contact PTSA if you can help!
8th Grade Recognition- June 14th from 4-6pm. This will be a reception/open house style for students to come and get certificates, connect with teachers, have treats and refreshments, and celebrate with their families. All families should have received an invitation in the mail.
Chromebook/School Issued Technology - All students will be turning in their chromebook, charger, and any other district issued technology items during ELA classes the week of June 12th. Please gather all of the items in preparation for this turn in and remove any stickers from the computer. Students are responsible for the computer that has been issued to them along with the charger. We are seeing and hearing of a number of concerns about computers that have been lost or broken. Per the signed technology agreement, computers do need to be replaced if lost or broken and insurance was not purchased prior to issuing a new computer. The replacement cost is $200 for computers, $40 for a damaged screen and $35 for new charging chords. Computers are needed in most classes on a daily basis. Please reach out if you need assistance.
Dress Code Reminder: We work hard to provide a positive learning environment at our school and students are required to come to school dressed appropriately as we prepare them for the workplace. Please be sure your student is not wearing clothing with logos that reference drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, or contain messages that put down any individual or groups of people. Also, please be sure your student leaves the beach and/or bedroom attire at home. Establishing an environment that is suitable for an educational setting is critical to success. Appropriate attire should not expose the stomach or chest, and shorts, skirts, dresses, etc should extend onto a student’s thighs so as not to be inappropriately too short. Please speak with your student about these important dress code reminders with the weather getting warmer and know that our intent is to work collaboratively with you and your student to best prepare every student for their future. Violations will result in an administration-led conversation about expectations and contact home. This expectation and message was also shared with Arlington High School students and families to support district consistency for students and families.
Post Summer Hours: The Post office will be closed for summer June 26-August 18. Please know that we will not have staff on site daily or be answering phones/messages during summer. We have passport day/open house set for August 31st from 2-6pm. For the 23-24 school year the first day of school is September 6th. Mr. Dobberfuhl and myself will be available by email or and responding to voicemails throughout the weeks. Please know we will also not address any scheduling questions or concerns until we have teachers and counselors back the week before school starts.
We wish you all a happy summer break!
