Linguistics Beheld is an exhibition of new work that deals with that nature of language and the presence of visual language in art.

The exhibit runs May 18–June 29, 2018.

Connecticut Department of Labor Closed May 25 and May 28

On Friday, May 25 and Monday, May 28 all Department of Labor offices will be closed to public. As a result, all of the American Job Center offices will be closed to the public also.

The Ensworth Charitable Foundation Supports HPL's Lifelong Learning for Older Adults Program
The Ensworth Charitable Foundation awarded a grant in the amount of $15,000 to Hartford Public Library in support of its Lifelong Learning for Older Adults program.

Classes will be offered downtown and at library branches. The first series of classes will be “Faces & Places,” a collage workshop taught by local artist Andres Chaparro at the Albany Branch starting June 12.

Learn all about bebop and two of its pioneers-- Charlie “Bird” Parker and John “Dizzy” Gillespie. Groove along to the music while you create a masterpiece using oil pastels. 
Super Suminagashi: Paper Marbling

Tuesday, May 22, 4:30-5:30 pm
May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage. To celebrate come to the library to discover an art form practiced since the 12th century in Japan. Suminagashi, or paper marbling, literally translates as ‘floating ink’ and is fascinating hands-on craft suitable for all ages.
