Dear JKHA/RKYHS Families,

In-person learning has enriched our students’ educational experience and has revitalized the JKHA/RKYHS community. With resilience and flexibility, and by dint of the extraordinary efforts of our faculty and administration, JKHA/RKYHS created a new normal that is inclusive, productive and energizing.

We have been carefully following the covid trend in our local areas. Whereas Thanksgiving will be a welcome respite from the pressures of daily life, and will focus our attention on our blessings, it will also increase the spread of covid. Cluster tracing demonstrates that most covid spread is related to household transmissions. Even with the best of intentions and careful attention to infection prevention protocols, the medical community expects an increase of covid transmissions post Thanksgiving.

After close consultation with our health committee and in collaboration with the educational leadership, we have determined that the safest way for us to have in-person learning is by pivoting to remote learning for the week following Thanksgiving, from November 30th until December 4th. God willing, we will return to in-person learning on Monday, December 7th. RKYHS students will remain remote on Monday, December 7th due to parent teacher conferences. Maintaining our distance for a full week after Thanksgiving will significantly increase our chances to contain the virus and subsequently resume in-person learning under safe conditions. We recognize that remote learning presents many challenges for parents, students, and teachers, but it is the most prudent and responsible way for us to ensure our community’s safety and well-being.

In the coming days, we will share more specific details from each division. We wish you a healthy, joyous and blessing-filled Thanksgiving holiday.

Sincerely,

Eliezer E. Rubin
