Dear Partners:
We hope you and yours are doing okay after last night’s unprecedented rain and flooding. We keep our communities in our thoughts and prayers through the storm response and recovery and thank you for your efforts to keep them safe. Through our Staten Island Community Organizations Active in Disaster (SI COAD) coalition, we will continue to keep you updated and if we can provide any other assistance, do not hesitate to reach out.
The City is reporting that NYC streets and highways continue to experience flooding conditions following yesterday's severe weather. Expect extensive traffic delays and road closures throughout NYC. Avoid unnecessary travel while clean-up operations continue. If you must travel, New Yorkers are advised to exercise caution when traveling, especially while driving, walking, or biking, and allow for additional travel time. Con Edison strongly advises to not approach downed power lines as the wires may still be live.
Be sure to document any damage to your home or property with pictures or videos, reporting, etc., especially valuable for assessment, claims, and aid. Specifically, we ask that you complete this Damage Assessment Tool to assist with response and aid efforts in our communities.
We are sharing the below resources from our partners, including NYC Emergency Management. For more resource and recovery updates, join NYCEM’s call TODAY AT 4 PM here. In the meantime, please see and share these resources and tools if you or those you serve have experienced flooding, damage, or displacement:

Stay tuned for information about a NYC Virtual Service Center to open shortly in Conjunction with the planned physical Service Centers to provide for the needs of those affected. If you have services to offer, please complete this form and return to: HumanServicesESFList@OEM.NYC.GOV. Organizations should provide a direct link to the webpage with the services (not just a home page). If the organization does not have a website, please provide a phone number or a way (e.g. walk-in center) in which a person is able to connect with a live person.
-
As always, please subscribe to NYC Notify to receive free emergency alerts and updates in your preferred language by visiting NYC.gov/notifynyc, calling 311 [PLEASE HOLD OFF CALLING 311 TODAY AS THEY ARE EXPERIENCING A HIGH CALL VOLUME] (212-639-9675 for Video Relay Service, or TTY: 212-504-4115), or getting the free Notify NYC mobile application for your Apple or Android device.
