3 reasons why

Trent University is the perfect venue for a biodiversity summit!

  1. Location location location! Trent's Peterborough-Nogojiwanong campus is found along the banks of the beautiful Otonabee River. Covering more than 1,400 acres with 30 km of hiking trails, it's a nature-lover's paradise! The Summit will celebrate biodiversity on the doorstep, with guided nature walks and outdoor adventures.
  2. Comfort and convenience! Summit participants can book their accommodation ($82.00 + HST per night) and stay right at Trent! So hop off the GO bus or park your car, and enjoy two days of inspiring programming, learning, sharing and networking all in one affordable and convenient location!
  3. Trent means green! Hosting the summit in a location where people can arrive by public transit and stay on site reduces our carbon footprint. And Trent takes campus sustainability very seriously, with a commitment to green teaching and learning, and ensuring practices, policies and programs are responsible to the environment.

Session profile:

Enhancing biodiversity on your land

Join session organizers Teri Hoang from

Forests Canada and John Pineau from the Ontario Woodlot Association for an

engaging and informative workshop designed for landowners who are interested in increasing biodiversity on their properties.

“Join us in making a positive impact on our environment by enhancing biodiversity on your land. Together, we can create healthier ecosystems for future generations!”

-  Session organizers Teri Hoang & John Pineau

Speakers for this session include Kerry

Coleman from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and Brendan Boyd

the MFTIP (Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program) Natural Areas Stewardship

booklet as a tool will be discussed.

John and Teri say, “This workshop is ideal for landowners, woodlot managers, farmers, and anyone interested in improving the ecological health of their land, whether it’s a small backyard or a large woodlot, this session will provide insights and practical ways of understanding and strengthening biodiversity.”

About Ontario's Biodiversity Strategy

The program for Ontario's Biodiversity Summit is built around the vision, targets and actions in Ontario’s Biodiversity Strategy, 2023-2030.

The strategy is our call to action and road map to conserve the genetic, species and ecosystem diversity for this and future generations. It’s like a to-do list to help all of us take actions that will benefit biodiversity, address our changing climate, improve human health, make our communities safer and stronger, and support our economy.

Join us at the Summit to learn more about Ontario's Biodiversity Strategy, and to work together to contribute to the targets and actions that will create a future where biodiversity is valued, conserved and restored and people live in harmony with nature.
