Postponing BASIS7-ANEP until Spring 2022
TBEP Partners and stakeholders,

This morning the Conference Steering Committee reached consensus on postponing the 7th Bay Area Scientific Information Symposium (BASIS 7) originally planned for October until Spring 2022. We are currently targeting the week of Feb. 27 – Mar. 4, 2022 for the rescheduled event, but we still need to confirm and lock-in these dates with the venue.

The rationale for postponing included: 1) maximizing in-person participation and interactions between local and ANEP participants, 2) delaying would allow for additional booster and/or vaccinations to occur for anticipated participants, 3) if we arrive at the same COVID situation in the Spring, then we can more effectively plan for a virtual/hybrid format at that time, and 4) additional abstracts/student posters could be solicited to further round-out the anticipated program.

While this isn't the outcome we were hoping, given current circumstances, I think it is our best option to maximize in-person interactions among participants both locally and from the ANEP network. If you have already made travel arrangements for October, I hope this provides enough notice for modification/cancellation without penalty, if necessary. Also, if you require a refund of any registration fees or sponsorships already paid, please let my staff know (Gary Raulerson, graulerson@tbep.org) and we'll process as soon as possible.

Apologies for this notice on a Friday before the Labor Day weekend. Regardless, we still look forward to working with you all on making the rescheduled event a success in the Spring.

Best regards,
Ed Sherwood
TBEP Executive Director
